Observatory To Host Movie Night

FREWSBURG — The Martz-Kohl Observatory will host a Saturn movie night Wednesday at the Martz-Kohl Observatory, 176 Robbin Hill Road, Frewsburg. The observatory is spending the month of August celebrating the planet Saturn. The first person to view Saturn through a telescope was Galileo Galilei in the year 1610. Following the movie, the observatory will be open for members and the public to take tours of the observatory and view Saturn as well as the night sky, weather permitting.

Quilters’ Guild Is Seeking Donations

The Westfield Quilters’ Guild is in need of comfort quilts for donation in November. The Wednesday sewing group has assembled kits for anyone interested. The group’s August meeting will be in Busti with CRQG on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 6:45 p.m. There will be no meeting in Westfield at the YWCA on Thursday, Aug. 22.

13th Annual Pig Roast Date Set

FREWSBURG — The Relief Zone fundraising committee is holding its 13th annual pig roast on Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Frewsburg Firemen’s Blue Building. Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until gone. Tickets are $10 for adults or $6 for children ages 10 and under. The menu includes pulled pork sandwich or hot dog, corn on the cob, baked beans, applesauce, fresh pie or cookies and beverages. There will be an inflatable bounce house and face painting for children along with a 50/50 giveaway and a basket auction.

Leon Town Picnic Will Be Held Sat.

The Leon Town Picnic will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, at noon at the Leon Fire Hall. Leon has a strong military history, and this year veterans will be celebrated with the dedication of the newly painted “Honor Roll” signs. Those who attend should bring a dish to pass. Everything else is provided.

Hucklebery Family Reunion Set Sun.

KENNEDY — The 100th Huckelbery family reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Kennedy First United Methodist Church, 3594 Church St., Kennedy. The gathering is for the descendants of Jesse J. and Allie B. Walker Huckelbery. Sheryl Cowen, family historian, provides photos and genealogy of the family. Family members are welcome to attend and update the records with marriages, births, those deceased and pertinent dates of these events. The events that day will include a pot luck lunch, brief business meeting with election of officers and games. Those attending should bring their own table setting and a dish to pass. Committee Hosts Support Event

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood-Busti Democratic Committee is hosting a “Meet, Greet, and Eat” to support its candidates on Saturday Aug. 17, from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at Cookie’s Place, 48 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood. The public is invited to attend.

WCA Reunion Event Scheduled

There will be a gathering for all who have worked at WCA Hospital HIM (Medical Records) or QI, on Sunday, Aug. 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. at College Park (Hundred Acre Lot) on Curtis Street. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share, their own beverages and tableware.
