School Board To Meet In Ripley

RIPLEY — The Ripley Central School Board will meet Thursday, Aug. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the IRLA library. The public is welcome to attend.

Annual Picnic At Bergman Park

Former employees of Manor Oak Skilled Nursing Facility are planning their annual picnic to be held at Bergman Park in Jamestown on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 6 p.m. All former employees and families are invited to attend. Water Leak In Brocton, Portland

Water customers in the village of Brocton and town of Portland are being asked to restrict water usage until 4 p.m. today due to a major water main leak. “No outdoor water usage is allowed this includes water lawn and garden, washing cars and filling pools,” an alert issued Wednesday said. “Please limit indoor use if possible. An update will be sent as available.”

Legion Accepting Applications

On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Herman Kent Post American Legion, 126 Jackson Ave., in West Ellicott, will be open to accept applications for the Legion, Sons of the Legion and auxiliary. Also, help will be given to veterans with questions about VA benefits. Refreshments will be served.

Banquet To Be Held At Hotel

The Norden Women’s Club Member guest banquet will be held Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Chautauqua Harbor Hotel beginning at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Choices are chicken picata for $29; spinach stuffed filet of sole $33; and cavatappi primivera $29. Respite Offered In Westfield

WESTFIELD — A community social program, or respite, is available every month in Westfield for those who care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia and offers them some time to refresh and re-charge while their loved one is engaged in social activities in a safe environment. Westfield United Methodist Church, 101 E. Main St., Westfield, hosts the time the second Wednesday of each month; August’s will be Aug. 14. For more information, call Gail Boardway at 716-232-4310.

Support Group Meets Aug. 13

The Alzheimer’s Association Western New York Chapter will host a caregiver support group meeting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the North County Dine-N-Dish. Restaurant locations change each month. For updated information, call Jennifer Ellman at the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging at 753-4781. Programs are free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged to ensure there are enough materials and to relay any changes to the schedules. To reserve a seat or for more information, call the chapter office at 800-272-3900. Information about dementia and caregiver resources is also available at the county Office for the Aging at 753-4582.
