Driving Course To Be Held Aug. 12

FREWSBURG — A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Monday, Aug. 12, from 5-10 p.m. The cost is $25. Preregister by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday. When calling, please make sure to have a permit on hand.

Volunteers Needed At UPMC

UPMC Chautauqua is in need of several volunteers to help direct visitors and patients when they come to the hospital. The units in need include outpatient registration, the blood draw station and the Emergency Department. Also, the new maternity floor is in need of several volunteers to work behind the welcome desk when patients and visitors arrive. Vacation Bible School To Be Held

The Kiantone Congregational Church, 646 Kiantone Road, will be holding Vacation Bible School on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 8 and Aug. 9, from 6-8:15 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 10, from 1-5 p.m. with a pot luck picnic to follow. “Kingdom Chronicles” will be the program for ages 4 and up. Picnic Reunion Is Set Aug. 15

The Jamestown High School Class of 1966 will hold a picnic reunion at the Viking Lodge Park on Aug. 15 at 5 p.m. The cost is $15 per person. For reservations, call Sammie Green at 499-3539.

Alzheimers Event To Be Held Aug. 7

ELLINGTON — The Alzheimer’s Association Western New York Chapter will host “Healthy Living For Your Brain and Body” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the Ellington Farman Library, 760 Thornton Road, Ellington. While Alzheimer’s disease currently cannot be prevented or slowed, there are steps to take and recommendations to follow in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise and cognitive activity that promote healthy aging. Programs are free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged to ensure there are enough materials and to relay any changes to the schedules. To reserve a seat or for more information, call chapter office at 800-272-3900. Information about dementia and caregiver resources is also available through the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging at 753-4582.
