Registration Ends Friday For ‘Battle’
Registration for the Jamestown Area YMCA’s 32nd annual Battle of Businesses to run Sept. 7 through Sept. 14 ends this Friday. Sponsor representatives are BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union. A new event this year will be team curling on the ice at Northwest Arena in Jamestown. Battle informational packets can be picked up now at the Jamestown or Lakewood YMCA. The town of Charlotte Assessor’s Office will be closed Saturday and Monday.
Kokomo Time Band To Perform
BUSTI — The Busti Gazebo Concert Series continues Saturday with the Kokomo Time Band. The band performs music made famous by the Beach Boys, the Beatles, Elvis and more encompassing oldies, Calypso, Cajun and Tex Mex styles. Members include Spencer Drake on bass and guitar, Jim Steffan, band leader and drummer, Jeff McCheskey on keyboards, and Brian Bundy on lead guitar. Concerts are held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Those attending the concert should bring their lawn chairs for seating. Concerts are sponsored by the Busti Hamlet Development Association and the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. Discolored Water Possible Friday
Jamestown Board of Public Utilities water customers in Celoron and west toward Lakewood, Cottage Park and beyond could see discolored water on Friday. Owners of a warehouse at 101 Jackson Ave., Celoron, have alerted the BPU that fire system water testing will take place at the facility between 8 a.m. and noon Friday. Once discolored, water could take between 12 and 24 hours to clear. BPU water customers in Celoron and west will want to avoid doing laundry until their water appears clear.
Library Board To Meet Thursday
LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Memorial Library board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the library. The meeting is open to the public.
Ellicott To Host Special Meeting
The town of Ellicott will be holding a special board meeting at the Ellicott Town Hall on Thursday at noon. The public is welcome to attend the meeting.
Church Breakfast On Saturday
Emmanuel Baptist Church will host a pancake breakfast from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday. Breakfast includes pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, grits, coffee, tea and juice. The cost is $6 per ticket. Delivery is available by calling 487-9860.
