Poland Center Road Will Close

POLAND — Railroad crews will be making repairs to the Western New York and Pennsylvania railroad crossing at Poland Center Road. The road will be closed to all traffic at the Western New York and Pennsylvania railroad crossing beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday until about 5 p.m. on Wednesday. A detour will not be posted.

Sugar Grove VBS Dates Set

SUGAR GROVE, Pa. — The Sugar Grove Presbyterian Church will be having a Vacation Bible School during Sale Days on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children ages 4-12 are invited to join in the fun. Class Of 1957 To Hold Picnic

The Jamestown High School Class of 1957 will be holding a picnic on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 12:30 p.m. at the Viking Lake Park. This in place of the group’s regular lunch date in August, and will be an 80th birthday celebration for all classmatess. Those attending should bring a dish to pass. Salamanca BOE Meeting Today

SALAMANCA — The Salamanca City Central School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting today at 7:30 a.m. in the superintendent’s office. The meeting is regarding personnel appointments.

Busti Gazebo Series Resumes

BUSTI — The Busti Gazebo Concert series resumes Saturday with the Mountain Railroad Band, which has been entertaining at concerts and church functions for more than 30 years. For 16 years, Maurice Brown owned the Mountain Railroad Depot outside Ellington. Members of the group include Brown as the lead singer and rhythm guitar, Bill Frost on guitar, Cecil Miller on keyboard, fiddle and vocals, Frank Jesmer on bass and vocals, and Pete Peterson on dobro and mandolin. All concerts start at 6:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Busti Hamlet Development Association and the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

Outdoor Club Set To Hike Sunday

The Allegheny Outdoor Club will meet Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Mayville train station to hike the Little Chautauqua Creek Gorge. Hikers are asked to wear appropriate footwear for hiking in water. Dennis Anderson will be the leader. He can be reached at 969-9772.

Salvation Army To Host VBS

The Salvation Army, 83 S.Main St., Jamestown, will hold daily Vacation Bible School from Monday to Friday, Aug. 2, from 6-8 p.m. for children who attend kindergarten-sixth grade. This year’s theme is Mr. Henry’s Wild and Wacky World. Please call 664-4108 to sign up.

ELLINGTON — The Ellington Farman Library, 60 Thornton Road, Ellington, will be holding its annual summer book sale in the Community Room on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
