Garden Tours To Be Held Saturday

Garden tours will be held Saturday featuring 10 gardens in Findley Lake, French Creek and Clymer. The fundraiser will assist the Community Support Group of Southwestern New York’s Summer Recreation Program, which includes transportation and swim lessons at the YMCA of Corry for students in Findley Lake, French Creek and Clymer. Pre-sale tickets for the garden tours are $25 and includes the tour and lunch at Willow Creek Pavilion. Tickets are available at the Dutch Village Restaurant and Alexander Findley Library. Tickets will also be available the day of the event for $30 at Willow Creek Pavilion and the library. Tours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Magnolia UM To Host Barbecue

The Magnolia United Methodist Church, 3969 Route 394 north of Stow, will be holding a chicken barbecue on Saturday from 3-7 p.m. The meal includes chicken from 3C’s Catering, potato salad, applesauce, roll, pie and beverage. The cost is $9.50 for adults and $4.50 for children. Take-outs will be available, and there will be a bake sale table.

Fenton Mansion Tour Set Saturday

The Fenton History Center will host a behind-the-scenes tour of the Fenton mansion and grounds starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. Dr. Tom Greer, Fenton History Center trustee and director of the Walnut Grove Archaeology program, will lead an architectural tour of the Fenton Mansion and grounds, including stories and information not included during regular tours and explores areas of the Fenton mansion that are not shown to the general public. The tour will include information about discoveries during several summers of archaeology digs on the grounds. The tours cost $10 for adults and $5 for Fenton History Center members. Children ages 17 and under are free. For more information, call the museum at 664-6256.

Parks Commission Meeting Thursday

The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Chautauqua County Jamestown Airport. The public is invited to attend.

Area Author To Discuss Book

SILVER CREEK — Area author Wendy Corsi Staub will appear at the Anderson Lee Library in Silver Creek to discuss her new book, “Dead Silence.” The event starts at 10 a.m. Staub will discuss her book with combined book clubs until 11 a.m. followed by a discussion with the public from 11 to 11:30 a.m. and a book signing from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

Volunteers To Move Bookstore

FREDONIA — Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County is moving its bookstore and tutoring rooms to 10 and 12 Park Place in Fredonia. LVCC has outgrown its current location in Dunkirk, and this new location will provide more space and visibility. LVCC will also be able to offer tutoring and training services at the same location. LVCC offers free one-on-one and group tutoring in reading, writing, and math. It also provide English language instruction, basic computer literacy, workplace preparation and life skills. LVCC will be moving during the month of July. The current bookstore, located at 21 E. Second St,, Dunkirk, will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday during the move. The new location will open Aug. 1.
