Town Of Ellington Offices Closed

ELLINGTON — The town of Ellington offices will be closed today and Friday in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. The offices will reopen Monday.

Driving Course To Be Held July 15

FREWSBURG — A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Monday, July 15, from 5-10 p.m. The cost is $25. Preregister by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday. When calling, please make sure to have a permit on hand.

Emmanual Baptist To Host Brunch

The Emmanuel Baptist Church located at 53 W. 23rd St., will be holding a brunch on Saturday at 11 a.m. Billy Witherspoon, from Conduit Ministries, is the keynote speaker as part of the church’s100th anniversary of year-long activities. The actual 100th anniversary is Sunday, Oct. 13. The menu for the brunch is pancakes, girts, quiche, sausages, sweet rolls and mini meatball subs. The tickets are $10 per person.

Family Reunion To Take Place Sun.

GERRY — The 52nd reunion of the Hawkinson-Swanson family will take place on Sunday at Friendship Park on Church Street in Gerry at 1 p.m. The group will eat promptly at 1:30 p.m. All attending should bring a dish of food to pass and their own table service. Summer Reading Program To Start

CHERRY CREEK — The Cherry Creek Free Library will host its summer reading program, “Universe of Stories,” starting Monday, July 8 ,and ending Aug. 23. All ages are welcome to participate. There will be reading, crafts and stories. For more information, call Pattie Lukaszewski at 338-6429.

Annual Ox Roast To Be July 14

WESTFIELD — On Sunday, July 14, the Westfield Exempt Firemen’s Association will hold its annual Ox Roast at Ottaway Park in Westfield. Ottaway Park is on Route 5 in the town of Westfield, 1 mile east of North Portage Street. The roast will begin at noon and continue until 6 p.m. There will be music all afternoon and hourly door prize drawings. A ticket drawing will be held at 6 p.m. Available will be Westfield’s Famous Ox Roast sandwiches, as well as hot dogs, curly fries, snow cones, cotton candy and sugar waffles. There will be games for the kids, as well as games of chance for the adults. This event is a major fundraiser for the Westfield Exempt Firemen’s Association, and the funds allows the association to purchase much needed equipment for the fire department. Prize or food tickets can be purchased from any member of the department.

Sewer Agency Board To Meet

FINDLEY LAKE — The Chautauqua County Sewer Agency will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Mina-Findley Lake Community Center, 2883 North Road, Findley Lake. The agency was reactivated to evaluate sewer infrastructure needs, prepare maps and plans and recommend to the Chautauqua County Legislature the creation of a sewer district in Mina, Sherman, the village of Sherman and hamlet of Findley Lake, if necessary. The public is welcome to attend.
