Church Store Announces Hours

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, will be open Wednesday and Friday, but closed the Fourth of July. The shop will also be closed Saturdays in July and August. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Friday this week. The shop has a selection of men’s shoes available, with all departments stocked. Donations accepted from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays or during regular business hours. Those with large donations are asked to call ahead at 664-1887. Off-street parking is available in the church parking lot off East Fifth Street. The all-volunteer staff includes many from RSVP.

Program Offers Free Meals

Chautauqua Opportunities Inc. provides free meals to children during the summer who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch during the school year. Each year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture partners with local organizations like Chautauqua Opportunities Inc.. Anyone age 18 or younger may come and eat. Sites are located in many communities across the county. Office For Aging To Host Picnic

MAPLE SPRINGS — The Chautauqua County Office for the Aging will host its annual Senior Picnic at the large pavilion at Midway State Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 19. There will be bingo, 50-50 tickets, door prizes and live music. Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. Lunch will be a chicken barbecue by All-American Barbecue & Catering of Jamestown and will include chicken, baked beans, potato salad, roll, watermelon and dessert. Lemonade, water and coffee will also be provided throughout the day. Tickets are available until Friday and can be obtained by contacting the county Office for the Aging at 753-4471 or 363-3865. The cost is $8.

Farmers Market Kicks Off July 10

CHERRY CREEK — Cherry Creek will host its farmers market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays starting July 10 next to the Cherry Creek United Methodist Church, 6813 Main St. The event is sponsored by the Cherry Creek Community Association Inc. For more information, call Jennie Westlake at 725-7607.

Historical Society Meeting Today

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society will hold a patriotic meeting today at 7 p.m. in the museum at the corner of Main and Lester streets. To celebrate the birthday of America, there will be a patriotic cake for refreshments. A program entitled “A patriotic moment” will be held. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Park To Host Outdoor Events

The first of Allegany State Park’s July Outdoor Adventure Series, focused on hammocking, will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, at the Summit Warming Hut. Park naturalist Haley Palmateer will show how to set up and use a hammock in ways that leave minimal trace/impact while camping. Those attending can bring a hammock if they own one to “hang” out after the demonstration. Each program will last 90 minutes. Registration is not required.
