Class Planning Annual Picnic

The Jamestown High School Class of 1963 is planning its annual picnic Aug. 17 at the Viking Lake Lodge from 2-8 p.m. All members and families are welcome to attend. JPS Board To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the board room at 197 Martin Road, Jamestown. A public hearing on the district safety plan will take place at 5:45 p.m. prior to the start of the regular meeting. The board will discuss a contract with the Jamestown Teachers’ Association, elect its officers for the 2019-20 school year, discuss creating a director of student support services and coordinator of student support services position while eliminating the director of pupil personnel services and discuss creating an accounting supervisor position. The public is welcome to attend.

SWCS Board To Gather Tuesday

The Southwestern Central School Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the board room at the middle school. The board will hold its organizational meeting and elect officers, among other actions. The public is welcome to attend.

Town Board Moves Meeting

The Busti Town Board will not meet today as would ordinarily be scheduled. The next board meeting will be held July 15.

Senior Council Trip To Casino

Anyone interested in going to the United Senior Council’s trip to the Seneca Niagara Casino on Aug. 28 for customer appreciation day is welcome to make reservations by Wednesday, July 10. The cost is $35. For reservations call Connie at 763-0544.

BPU Announces Holiday Changes

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities offices will be closed on Thursday in observance of the Fourth of July. The Fourth of July also is a holiday for BPU Solid Waste employees. Normal Thursday garbage collection will take place on Friday, July 5. Regular Friday collection will take place on Saturday, July 6. Recycling for July 1-6 is glass. Customers who need to pay bills after-hours can make them with a credit card, debit card and e-check at jamestownbpu.com. Phone payments also may be made by credit card, debit card and e-check, by calling 661-1660, ext. 3. Checks may be left in drop-off boxes located at the top of the BPU’s “D” driveway, 92 Steele Street; outside City Hall on Tracy Plaza; and outside the Town of Ellicott Building in Falconer. Payments left after-hours should only be made by check. All trouble reports for BPU services, all hours, should be directed to 661-1640.

Town Offices To Close Thursday

Ellery town offices will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the July 4 holiday. Offices will reopen on Monday, July 8. Meanwhile, the town of Ellicott administration offices will also be closed Thursday and Friday. The offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, July 8.
