Harrison Street Bridge To Close

A county bridge on Harrison Street in Jamestown, between Hancett Place and Institute Street, will be closed to traffic beginning Monday. The closure is due to a bridge replacement project. A detour will be posted.

Summer Concert Series Announced

ELLERY — The town of Ellery Summer Band Concert Series has been announced. All Thursday concerts are from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Events include the Happy Day’s Band on July 11, Kokomo Time Band on July 18, Razz and Friends on July 25, Dan Vogan on Aug. 1, Bill Ward and Amanda Barton on Aug. 8, and Barbara Jean and Aug. 15.

Legislature Office To Be Closed

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Legislature office will be closed on Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, due to the Fourth of July holiday. The office will open as normal on Monday, July 8.

Work To Begin On Foot Ave. Bridge

Beginning Monday, July 8, work will begin on the Foote Avenue railroad bridge. According to the city Department of Public Works, Foote Avenue will be closed to traffic from Harrison to Crane streets for about six weeks. The scheduled reopening is mid-August. Detour signs will be posted. “Motorists must use alternate routes of travel and, as always, motorists should use extra caution while driving near this and other construction areas,” said Jeffrey Lehman, city public works director.

Fenton Not Open For Holiday

The Fenton History Center will be closed Thursday for the July 4 holiday. The center will reopen at 10 a.m. Friday, July 5.

AARP To Host Safety Class

ELLINGTON — A Smart-Driver Safety Class sponsored by the AARP will be held from 1 to 4:15 p.m. Monday, July 8, and Wednesday, July 10, at the Ellington Farman Free Library, 760 Thornton Road, Ellington, across from the Ellington Town Park. Participants must attend both days of class, bring their driver’s license and a pen. AARP members must bring their membership card. Taking the class can reduce car insurance premiums up to 10% and temporarily eliminate up to four penalty points from a driver’s license. The cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-members, with payment due by check or money order on the second day of class. The class is oriented to drivers over the age of 50 but is open to all. Blood Drive To Be Held July 19

LAKEWOOD — A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held Friday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bargain Outlet, 185 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood. The blood drive will include face painting and a DJ.
