SW Class Of ’89 Reunion In July

The Southwestern Central School Class of 1989, 30-year reunion will be held Saturday, July 6, from 7-10 p.m. at the Lawson Center in Bemus Point, 73 Lakeside Drive. Tickets are $20 per person and will cover the cost of the venue, appetizers and drinks. Tickets can be purchased online at GoFundMe.com/SWCS Class of 1989. Celebrations begin Friday, July 5, at 9 p.m. with classmate Jackson Rohm’s concert at the Village Casino in Bemus Point. The final event will be a private tour of the new SWCS High School gym on Sunday, July 7, at 11 a.m. Meet at the gym entrance at 10:45 a.m.

Fenton Workshop Planned Saturday

The Fenton History Center’s next genealogy workshop is Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hall House Research Center, 73 Forest Ave., Jamestown. The topic will be “Non-Population Census Schedules” and will cover the material to be found in Agricultural, Industrial, Mortality, Slave, and Defective, Dependent, and Delinquent Schedules. The records may help find missing family members and allow researchers to fill out the details in their lives. The cost is $20 for non-members and $10 for members. To register, call 664-6256.

Bandshell Series To Feature Jazz

The Jamestown Summer Bandshell Performance series will feature Pearl City Jazz at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Pearl City Jazz is a high-powered big band jazz led by local legend Razz Rasmusson. The free performance series is held at the Goranson Bandshell in Allen Park. Musical events have been held annually in Allen Park since the 1950s. In addition to funding provided annually by the city of Jamestown, sponsors include the Allen Park Women’s Club, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Chautauqua Theater Company, Fessenden, Laumer & DeAngelo; Lind Funeral Home, Local 134, American Federation of Musicians; Scandinavian Studies Program, Salon 1, The Resource Center, The United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County Projects Pool Grant Program, and UPMC Chautauqua Hospital. As in previous years, members of the Allen Park Women’s Club will continue in their tradition of providing coffee, fudge and other baked goods during all of the concerts. All concerts are free to the public. Those attending are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets or park vehicles close by to listen to the music in their car.

Farmers Market Kicks Off Sunday

The Cassadaga Farmers Market will celebrate its third year in the village of Cassadaga on Sunday afternoons this summer. Beginning this Sunday through Sept. 15, vendors from the Fredonia Farmers Market and the Cassadaga area will hold a weekly farmers market on Ames Common on the corner of Route 60 and Maple Avenue from 12:30-3:30 p.m. The Cassadaga Farmers Market continues to be a collaborative effort between the Fredonia Farmers Market and Citizens for a Better Cassadaga. The Cassadaga Market is currently accepting applications for local producers of meat products, bakery goods, craft items and fresh flowers.
