Auxiliary Board Meets Thursday

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary Board will meet on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The auxiliary annual summer picnic chicken barbecue will be held Monday, June 10, at 6 p.m. Entertainment for the evening will be Pat Cook impersonating, “Women of Country.” Prizes will be awarded to members celebrating summer birthdays and a 50/50 will be held. The cost of the event is $10 per person and members may bring a guest. Reservations are due by Monday. For more information call Connie Whitman at 763-0549. Greeters for the event will be Sandy Carlson and Coralyn Boehler. Helpers are Lyn Spencer and Mary Alonge. Set up for the night is Sharon Purdy and Nancy Rasmussen. Clean up will be Coralyn Boehler. Meetings will resume Sept. 9.

Firemen To Meet In Wales Center

The South Western Association of Volunteer Firemen has announced its next quarterly business meeting will be hosted by the Wales Center Fire Company in the town of Wales Center in Erie County on Sunday. The meeting is located at 12300 Big Tree Road in Wales Center. The executive meeting will begin at noon, and the general membership meeting will start at 1 p.m. The association is comprised of volunteer firefighters and EMS providers of fire departments and rescue squads in the four counties of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua and Erie counties. Historical Society Gathers Tuesday

The Valley Historical Society will hold its June meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the museum in Sinclairville. The guest speaker will be Traci Langworthy, who will discuss “Womens Suffrage in the Valley.” The public is welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Crafters Meeting Is On Monday

ELLINGTON — The Ellington Quilters and Crafters will meet Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ellington Farman Library. All adults are invited to come, work on their project, or just visit. The group meets the first and third Mondays. The library is located in the former Lock, Stock, and Barrel on the Town Square, 760 Thorton Road. The library is handicap accessible.

JHS Class Making Plans For Picnics

Jamestown High School Class of 1965 members are making plans for its summer picnics at the Vikings. The dates are Thursday, June 27, and Wednesday, Aug. 28. Both picnics begin at 5 p.m. On June 27 the class will provide pizza and salad. The group will ask for donations at the event to cover the cost of the food and for the rental of the side patio. Putts For Mutts Event Saturday

WESTFIELD — The Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue will hold its annual Putts for Mutts fundraiser starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Pinehurst Golf Club, Westfield. The 18-hole tournament is a two-person scramble. The cost is $60 per player and includes lunch. Giveaway prizes include rounds of golf, certificates and tickets to events.
