Grange Members Host 4-H Families

Ross Grange members hosted 4-H families to a buffet meal at their May 13 meeting. Winners of the 4-H meat animal essay contest read their writings: Erma Wolcott, Senior Hog and Tesika Kilmer, Goat. Not available were Kamryn Harper, Junior Hog and Hanna Cross, Sheep. Their essays were read by Betty Wakefield, lecturer. Each received a $50 check and certificate from Ross Grange. This is the only Ross Grange meeting in May due to the Memorial Day Holiday. The next meeting will be at the Falcon’s Nest Banquet Hall June 10 with a tureen dinner at 6 p.m. The Grange Memorial program will be observed.

Outdoor Club To Hike Oil Creek

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike 4-5 miles at Oil Creek. The group will meet at Musante Street in Warren, Pa., at 1 p.m. or at Petroleum Center off Route 8 South of Tittusville, Pa., at 2 p.m. The leader will be Greg Burkett; he can be reached at 814-723-4989.

Five-Hour Course Registration Open

FREWSBURG — A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Monday, June 3, from 5-10 p.m. The cost is $25. Preregister by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. When calling, please make sure to have a permit on hand.

Development Board Meeting Set

The County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, May 28, at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held at the BWB Building, 201 W. Third St., Jamestown, and is open to the public.

Resource Board To Meet Tuesday

The Chautauqua County Capital Resource Corporation board will meet May 28 in the IDA board room in the BWB building, 201 W. Third St., Jamestown, immediately after the IDA’s board meeting. The public is welcome to attend.

Brocton Family Services May 31

BROCTON — The first “Family Connections” event, connecting students and families with area service providers, will be held on May 31, at Brocton Central School. To be part of the event, call Judy Wroda at 661-3010 or at 450-3960. There will be snacks, children’s bingo games and door prizes, information regarding services for families and individuals and guidance offered at this event. The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. There is no charge to attend.

CASAC Holds Barbecue Events

The Chautauqua Alcohol and Substance Abuse Council held two Chiavetta’s chicken barbecues this spring with proceeds going towards Chautauqua County youth prevention services and increasing our outreach with youth in the community.
