Thrift Shop In Need Of Items

The Community Outreach Center Thrift Store is in need of gently used clothing and household goods. All proceeds from the sale of any items benefits local charities. The store is located on the third floor of the First Lutheran Church, Chandler and Center streets. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

To Host Tours

Cassadaga Job Corps Academy will host tours and information sessions for interested applicants and their families on Thursday at 10 a.m. Cassadaga Job Corps Academy offers no-cost career training in the healthcare, construction and security industries as well as classes to prepare to take the TASC or obtain a high school diploma. In order to enroll in Job Corps, applicants must be 16-24 years old and meet income and other guidelines, as well as demonstrate readiness to embark on a rigorous and demanding training program. Services for graduates include job placement assistance and transition money. To reserve a spot on a tour or to inquire about admissions, contact 595-4200.

Thrift Shop To Host Local Sales

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, will have all ladies shorts, raincoats or lightweight jackets available for half price. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays or during regular business hours. Those with large donations are asked to call ahead at 664-1887. Off-street parking is available in the church lot off East Fifth Street. The all-volunteer staff includes many from RSVP. All proceeds are used locally.

Salvation Army Yard Sale June 1

The Salvation Army will hold its annual yard sale on Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 83 S. Main St., Jamestown This event is being held to raise money for World Services. Spaces are available for $10 and tables for rent at $5 each. Crafters are also welcome to participate. Call the Salvation Army at 664-4108 for more information.

Memorial Day Parade In Gerry

The town of Gerry Memorial Day parade is set for Sunday. The line-up is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Gerry Fire Hall with the parade beginning at 2 p.m. The parade will proceed up Route 60 to the Gerry Cemetery where the speaker for the memorial ceremony will be Susan Rowley, president of the Blue Star Mothers. Additional individuals or groups are welcome to join the parade. Call 985-4257 for additional information.

County OFA To Hold Plant Sale

The Chautauqua County Office for the Aging will host a plant sale at three sites in Chautauqua County. The first sale will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Church, 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The second will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Hall R. Clothier Building, 7 N. Erie St., Mayville, with the third from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Christ First United Methodist Church on Buffalo Street, Jamestown. Plants will be available for $3 each or four for $10. Money raised benefits the Office for the Aging Fund at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation and senior programs. Pots and soil were donated by Brigiotta’s Greenhouse and Garden Center.
