Fluvanna Open House Tomorrow

The Fluvanna Historical Society is hosting an open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. At 1 p.m., Sandy Robison will be speaking on Fluvanna. Representatives from the Fluvanna Cemetery will also be in attendance. The event is open to the public.

Memorial Day Service Sunday

POLAND – The Allen Cemetery Memorial Day service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday with the guest speaker being Teddy LeBaron of Sinclairville. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from 1968-70 in the Air Mobile Artillery. He was discharged as Army Specialist 4th Class. The cemetery is located on Willard Street Extension and refreshments will be served following the service. The Allen Cemetery Association held its annual meeting recently at the home of Charles Ames with 12 officers, trustees and lot owners attending. The meeting included discussions on the maintenance that needs to be done to the cemetery along with other general information. The Allen Cemetery Association would like to thank Doris Williamson for her 13 years of service as the treasurer. She will assume a trustee position while Gayle Lyon will take on the treasurer position. The 2019 fall cleanup is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, with a rain date of Nov. 10. All lot owners and those from the public are welcomed to join.

DAR To Hold Chapter Meeting

The Jamestown Chapter DAR will hold an informational meeting and genealogy workshop on preparing an application for membership. Members of the Jamestown Chapter DAR will be available to answer questions and assist ladies in preparing their genealogy report. The chapter will meet at the chapter house, 70 Prospect St., Jamestown, Sunday, May 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. The Daughters of the American Revolution is a volunteer service organization open to any woman 18 years of age and older who can prove direct lineage to someone who fought or gave aid to the American Revolution. Museum Open House Sunday

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society museum at the corner of Lester and Main streets in Sinclairville will hold an open house on Sunday as part of the county wide museum open house weekend. The museum will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. with no admission charge. Several society members will be there to answer questions and give tours. The Sinclairville museum was opened in 1977 and holds artifacts of many kinds from the Cassadaga Valley.

Randolph School Vote Tuesday

RANDOLPH — The annual Randolph school budget vote and board election will be held on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Randolph Central School High School cafeteria. A board meeting will follow at 8:15 p.m. in the high school library.

Kiantone Cemetery Meeting Monday

KIANTONE — The annual meeting of the Kiantone Maple Grove Cemetery Association will be held on Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Kiantone Congregational Church, 646 Kiantone Road. All lot owners and families are invited to attend.
