Children’s Spring Fling Friday

CHERRY CREEK — The Cherry Creek/Leon United Methodist Church will host its Children’s Spring Fling from 5 to 7 p.m. May 17. Dinner will be served. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call Pattie at 338-8429 or 296-1016.

Kaleidoscope Performance Set

The Infinity Arts Cafe will host Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Center students showcasing their talents at a Kaleidoscope Night performance at 7 p.m. Friday, May 17. Kaleidoscope nights are an ever-changing mix featuring a wide variety of performers that include Infinity music, poetry, dance, or theater students, Infinity instructors or invited guests from the community. The evening event is free, family friendly and open to the public. The Infinity Arts Cafe performance entrance is located at 300 E. Third St., Jamestown.

Library Board Meeting Thursday

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Memorial Library Board of Trustees will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the library. The meeting is open to the public.

Historical Open House Saturday

FREWSBURG — The Carroll Historical Society will hold its annual open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its facility located behind the town hall. This year’s theme is “Town of Carroll Timber Harvesting in the 1800s” A large timber harvesting display done by Jim Buck, society member, will be featured. Other displays will include the 1975 Frewsburg Sesquicentennial Art Contest, the 1975 Sesquicentennial, the 1975 Frewsburg School Fire, Rock N Roll Speedway, the D.A.V. & P Railroad, Reuben Fenton, The Frew family and Robert H. Jackson. The Robert H. Jackson display includes the family Bible on which he took the oath of the Supreme Court. A giveaway for a combination bird bath, feeder, flower planter and solar lights and a 50/50 giveaway will be held Saturday. Winners need not be present to win. The speaker will be Fletcher Ward of Bemus Point talking on the timber harvesting of this time period. A special presentation will be given to a Frewsburg art student for her dedication in art projects the last two years for the society. There will be free admission and free refreshments.

Annual Spring Showcase Set

Dancing With Victoria Performing Arts Centre announce its third annual Spring Showcase: “TV LAND” on Saturday in the Jamestown High School auditorium with a matinee performance at 12:30 p.m. and an evening show at 5:30 p.m. Performers will dance to honor unforgettable television shows throughout history. Tickets are $8 pre-sale or $10 at the door. For more information about the showcases or classes, please call 485-6174.

Museum Open House Saturday

The Fluvanna County Historical Society Museum open house is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Several have worked the last week to get the building ready to open for Saturday and open for the summer. The program is at 1 p.m. and Sandy Robison will talk about growing up in Fluvanna. Membership fees can also be paid. The cost is $10 for single membership and $25 for a family membership.
