Celoron Village Hall To Close

CELORON — The Celoron Village Hall will be closed on Thursday to allow staff to attend a training seminar. It will reopen on Friday at 9 a.m.

Class Of 1951 To Gather Today

The Jamestown High School Class of 1951 will meet at Alfie’s Restaurant at 1 p.m. today for a social lunch. Anyone with interest in the class may attend.

Marvin House Lunch Planned

Members of the Marvin Community House are invited to attend the annual meeting and luncheon to be held Thursday, May 16, at noon. June Diethrick from the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation will be addressing the membership. Reservations are due Monday by calling 488-6206 or emailing marvinhouse@netsync.net.

Clerk’s Office To Close Thursday

STOW — The North Harmony Town Clerk’s office will be closed Thursday as staff will be attending classes at the Southern Tier West Local Government Conference at Houghton College. Offices will reopen on Friday.

YMCA To Hold Fun Glow Party

The Jamestown YMCA will be hosting a mother/son Friday Fun Glow Party on Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This event is for all moms, sisters, aunts, grandmas or any special women in a little boy’s life. The event will include games, snacks, contests, prizes, music and face painting. For the maximum glow effect, wear white or glow colors. Space is limited. Ellery Seniors Meet At Church

ELLERY — Ellery Senior Citizens met recently at St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Those serving on the kitchen committee were Cherrie Clark and July Hatch. Jan Stowell led the flag salute to open the business meeting led by vice president Elaine Crossley and Bruce and Mary Mazzone and Alice Nishnick were welcomed as new members. Gene Norris led the devotions speaking about Resurrection Sunday. Judy Truver, JoAnne Capizzi and Moe Stowell celebrated birthdays. Bingo with prizes was enjoyed by all. Next month’s meeting will be Friday at the church, and the program will feature Lucille Miller, gifted pianist and “comedian,” who will bring the group into summer with her musical renditions. A Mothers Day/Fathers Day catered dinner will be served by Debbie Stearns of Classic Occasions. Fran Bishop and JoAnne Capizzi will serve on the Kitchen Committee.

Quilters Guild To Host May Meeting

WESTFIELD — Civil War quilts will be featured at the Westfield Quilters’ Guild May meeting. Tim Field, a Civil War historian, will present a lecture on Civil War soldier’s quilts, potholder quilts, and women’s roles in the formation of the U.S. Sanitary Commission. Field will bring a few of the reproduction quilts he has made using an antique, hand-crank sewing machine. The meeting will be held Thursday, May 16, at 6 p.m. at the Westfield YWCA. The public is welcome to attend.
