Departments Called To Fire

FINDLEY LAKE — Several departments were called to a structure fire Wednesday shortly before 9 a.m. A neighbor spotted smoke coming from the windows and chimney at 2232 Mann Road in Findley Lake. Fire officials went on scene reporting the home fully engulfed by fire. Firefighters from Findley Lake, Clymer, Sherman and South Ripley were called to Mann Road. Crews were on scene for about two hours. The cause of the fire wasn’t known Wednesday.

Creations Art

Program Display

Works made by artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities in The Resource Center’s Creations Art Program are on display at RydersCup Coffee in Lakewood until May 4. The exhibit features about 20 pieces, including paintings, photographs and ceramics. The works, which are available for purchase, were made by artists who participate in the day programs located within TRC’s Michael J. Raymond Center on Jones & Gifford Avenue in Jamestown. The coffee shop, located at 28 Chautauqua Ave., is open from 7 a.m. 5:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Warehouse To Test Fire System

CELORON — A warehouse on Jackson Avenue in Celoron will test its fire system flow test today. As a result, water in Celoron and parts of West Ellicott is expected to be discolored for 12-24 hours after the test occurs. Discolored water could then spread into Lakewood and Cottage Park. Jamestown BPU customers should not do laundry until water appears clear.

St. John’s Fish Fry Friday Set

St. John’s Church, 270 Newton Ave; Jamestown, will host its fish fry Friday. Options include fish battered or broiled, or shrimp combos. The cost is $10 for adults and $8 for children. Carry outs are also available. Call 484-8554 for more information.

Easter Egg Hunt Sunday April 20

NORTH HARMONY — The North Harmony United Methodist Church, 6814 Sherman-Stedman Road, is hosting a community Easter egg hunt on Saturday April 20, starting at 1 p.m. For children from birth to 12 years old. Those who attend are asked to bring their own Easter basket and to dress for the outdoors.

Outdoor Club To Hike Overland

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike the Overland Trail. The group will meet at 2 p.m. at the Cusimano Overland Trail parking lot on Route 474, west of Panama. This hike is a shuttle of approximately 4.75 miles. The leader is Susan Guenther, who can be reached at 763-4386.

Shred Center To Offer Services

The Shred Center will again be offering shredding services on Earth Day, Monday, April 22, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to benefit Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care. The Shred Center will not charge for its secure shredding services to drive-up customers on Earth Day; an at-will contribution to CHPC will be accepted instead. Under new ownership since January 2017, The Shred Center is now located at 1889 Lyndon Blvd., Falconer.
