Library To Host ‘TED’ Talks

ELLINGTON — The Ellington Farman Library, 760 Thornton Road, Ellington will begin hosting “TED” talks from 6-7 p.m. once a month starting Thursday. “TED” is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks online and at conferences around the world. Starting in 1984 the talks were originally centered around the themes of technology, entertainment and design. TED is owned by a non-profit, nonpartisan foundation. The library will show TED talk videos centered around a different topic every month. Thursday’s topic will be “How Literature Has Changed Lives.” A time of light refreshments and group discussion will follow the video. Thule Lodge To Meet Thursday

FALCONER — The Thule Lodge will begin its 112th year in the Jamestown area with the opening meeting of the year this Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer. Thule Lodge is the Swedish organization which is preserving the Swedish heritage through events and activities during the year. Refreshments will be served following the meeting. New members are always welcome.

Cemetery To Host Cleaning

FALCONER — Pine Hill Cemetery will host its annual 2019 spring cleanup. All winter decorations must be removed from Pine Hill Cemetery grave sites prior to Monday, April 15. Any remaining items will be discarded.

Library To Host Cribbage Club

ELLINGTON — The Ellington Farman Free Library has begun a new Cribbage Club from 1-3 p.m. Thursdays. The library is located on 760 Thornton Road, Ellington. For more information, call 287-2945 or visit ellingtonlibrary.org.

BOCES To Hold Open House

ASHVILLE — The Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES Hewes Educational Center, 2615 N. Maple Ave., Ashville, will host a sophomore open house on Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. High school sophomores interested in career and technical education programs can tour classrooms, speak with students and instructors and learn more about a specific field of interest.

Special Dinner Planned At Club

The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 726 will host a special dinner at the ILS Veterans Club, 364 Fluvanna Ave., on Saturday from 4-7 p.m. Choices include homemade chicken and biscuits dinner and also liver with onions. Dinners include vegetables, bread and dessert. The proceeds will benefit the building roof fund. Tickets can be purchased at the dinner. The cost of the dinner is $9 for adults and $7 for children under 12 years.

Tourney To Aid After-Prom Club

RANDOLPH — A cribbage tournament will be held Sunday to benefit the Randolph Central School After-Prom Party. The tournament will be held at the Randolph American Legion Post 181.
