Panama BOE To Meet Monday

PANAMA — The Panama Central School District Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.

St. Patrick’s Day Party Is Today

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua Children’s Safety Education Village is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day today with a St. Patrick’s Day Party at the Chautauqua Inn and Suites, 215 West Lake Road, Mayville. The celebration will feature the classic rock band Reset To Vinyl, dinner, dancing, basket giveaways and drink specials. Tickets are $50 per person and includes entry into three cash jackpots of $1,000, $500 and $250 and $50 back for every 50th ticket drawn, dinner and entertainment. Festivities will kick off with appetizers at 6 p.m. Dinner will include a selection of food stations including a taco bar, slider bar, potato bar, salad bar, burger bar and pasta bar. Green desserts will be features as well as an after hours pizza party at Bellini’s. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Quilters And Crafters To Meet

ELLINGTON — Quilters and Crafters will meet at the Ellington Farman Library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Those attending can work on individual projects and visit with others. The craft time is held the first and third Mondays monthly. There are no fees or registration, and the time is open to the public, not just Ellington residents. The library is located at 760 Thornton Road, the former Lock, Stock, and Barrel on the Ellington Town Square, and is handicapped-accessible. There are plenty of outlets for sewing machines, irons, or other equipment needing electricity. For more information call the library at 287-2945.

Lenten Services Set To Continue

The Lutheran Community Midweek Lenten Services and Luncheon will continue Wednesday, March 20, at noon in the Memorial Chapel of the First Lutheran Church, 120 Chandler St., Jamestown. Guest pastor leading worship will be the Rev. Timothy Hoyer, pastor of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lakewood and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Falconer. Pastor Hoyer’s meditation will be on the Apostles’ Creed. A 12:30 p.m. luncheon will follow in the church parlors served by the ladies of the First Lutheran Altar Society for a nominal fee. The public is welcome to attend.

Quilters’ Guild To Meet Thursday

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Quilters’ Guild will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the YWCA in Westfield. The guild is open for skilled quilters and beginners. Thursday’s program is about wool applique, and, for an upcoming workshop on April 6, the group will learn how to make placemat bags.

AARP Smart Driving Course

An AARP Smart Driving class will be sponsored by the Bethel Lutheran Church on April 22 and 23 from 1-4 p.m. This is a six-hour class and pre-registration is required by calling Jack Twinam at 488-1264, a state certified driving instructor. Cost is $20 for AARP Members or $25 for non members. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a 10% discount on auto insurance for a three-year period.
