Mozart Club To Host Concert

The Mozart Club of Jamestown will be sponsoring a free concert for area music lovers on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Christ First United Methodist Church. The Acclaim Ensemble will perform, featuring two Houghton College faculty musicians, Armenio Suzano Jr and William J. Newbrough. They will be playing a concert of mixed classical, sacred and jazz music. The Mozart Club has been in existence since 1879 and is the longest-existing music club in New York. Meetings feature music from members and guests, and the club sponsors college scholarships to area High School seniors each year. Although this concert is presented without charge, a free-will offering will be taken.

Oakes To Speak At Marvin House

Marvin House members and their guests will gather for lunch on Thursday, March 21, at noon. The guest speaker will be Beth Oakes from the Child Advocacy Program. The CAP wish list is available in the newsletter, and members are encouraged to bring donations. Reservations are required by Monday, March 18, and may be made by calling 488-6206, or by emailing marvinhouse@netsync.net.

Golden Agers To Meet At Legion

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Golden Agers will meet Tuesday, March 19, at 1 p.m. at the Lakewood American Legion. The program will be a speaker from the Salvation Army Anew Center. Members are reminded to pay for the spring dinner with cost of $6 to be held on April 16. Call Cecile Wilson at 483-0101 for further information.

JPS Board To Gather Tuesday

The Jamestown School Board will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Persell Middle School auditorium, 375 Baker St., Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Russian Dinner At Local Church

The 2019 Russian dinner will take place Saturday, March 23, at 6 p.m. at Levant Wesleyan Church in Falconer. This year’s fundraiser-dinner theme is “Russian Cities — Russian Foods” and will include authentic foods from various regions. Proceeds will assist with travel expenses for the Russian teachers participating in the Perm Mission Network exchange. Tickets are $15 in advance, available at the church office, or $18 at the door. Class Of ’74 To Meet This Year

Southwestern Central School Class of 1974 has scheduled reunion activities for the Summer of 2019. Classmates from any graduation year are welcome. An informal social hour will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, starting at 7 p.m. at Southern Tier Brewing Company, 2072 Stoneman Circle, Lakewood. On Saturday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m., meet at the main entrance of the school “under the dome” for a tour to see the many renovations that have recently completed. Saturday evening activities will be at the National Comedy Center in Jamestown, starting with a tour of Jamestown’s newest attraction followed by a catered dinner on the patio. Two separate reservations are required for the National Comedy Center tour and for dinner on Saturday. The deadline for reservations is Aug. 10, 2019. Any and all assistance locating classmates would be appreciated. Classmates from any graduation year are welcome. Details and registration can be found at swcs1974.weebly.com.
