Ellicott Police Warn Of Thefts

FALCONER — The Ellicott Police Department is warning the public of recent thefts from two local hair salons. According to a message on the department’s Facebook page, two thefts occurred at hair salons in the Falconer area within the last two weeks. Police said in each incident, an unknown person went into the salon and removed wallets or purses from behind the counter or in a back room. “We would like to remind local hair salons and everyone to make sure you are locking up your purses/wallets while at work,” the department said.

Death Is Ruled Not Suspicious

The death of a man at his home is not being treated as suspicious, Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone said.

Investigators were called Monday night to a property along Route 62 near the Ellington/Conewango Valley border after the man had been found dead. Quattrone said the man likely suffered a medical event on the porch of his property where he was found.

Water District Board To Meet

DUNKIRK — The Administrative Board of the North Chautauqua County Water District will meet Thursday, March 13, at 4 p.m. at Fireside Manor Restaurant, 5377 W. Lake Road, Dunkirk. The public is welcome to attend.

Jamestown Class Of 1979 Reunion

The Jamestown High School Class of 1979 will celebrate its 40th class reunion on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the new Doubletree Hotel, 150 W. Fourth St., Jamestown.

The reunion event is from 6-7 p.m. with social hour with cash bar, followed by buffet dinner and DJ. For out of town guest, there has been a block of 20 rooms reserved at the hotel.

This block of rooms will only be available for up to two weeks prior to event or until all booked. There will also be a pre-reunion social gathering the night before on Friday at the Pub starting at 8 p.m. For the Friday event, the reunion is looking to gather at the National Comedy Center as well as the traditional golf outing. County Board Of Health To Meet

MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Board of Health will hold its meeting on Thursday, March 21, at 6 p.m. in the HRC Building, fourth floor conference room, 7 N. Erie St. in Mayville. Anyone seeking further information or wishing to attend this meeting should call the Public Health Director’s Office at 753-4590.

Marco Polo Club Dinner Saturday

The Marco Polo Club, 1027 E. Second St., Jamestown, will host a spaghetti dinner Saturday from 4-7 p.m. The cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children. The public is welcome to attend.

Lakewood Library Meeting March 14

LAKEWOOD — The board of the Lakewood Memorial Library will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the library. The meeting is open to the public.
