Senior Center Trip On June 18

The Jamestown Senior Center will take a trip on June 18 to the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum and Sprague’s Restaurant (choice of menu required). The cost is $83 a person and leaves from the new parking lot at the corner of Davis and Everett streets, Falconer, across from Tops Markets, at 7:15 a.m. For more information, call 484-1627 or 499-5826. A September trip to Branson, Mo., will take place from Sept. 15-21. Brochures are available.

Spaghetti Dinner Today At Church

LAKEWOOD — A Shrove Tuesday spaghetti dinner will be held at Gloria Dei Church, 35 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood today from 5:30-7 p.m. The dinner includes spaghetti and meat balls, salad, dessert and beverage. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. For further information, call the Gloria Dei Church at 763-8979. Proceeds will benefit the church’s mission to assist World Hunger.

Ash Wednesday Events Planned

BEMUS POINT — St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 3748 Route 430, Bemus Point, will host Ash Wednesday events and a Lenten “Dinner Church.” Pastor Ivy Gauvin will be providing “Ashes to Go” on the porch of the See Zurh House in Bemus Point. She will be available at that location from 8-11 a.m. The church will also have Ash Wednesday worship services at noon and at 7 p.m. These services will include imposition of ashes and Holy Communion. On the five Wednesdays of Lent, all are invited to St. Timothy Lutheran Church at 6 p.m. for weekly “Dinner Church.”

Ash Wednesday Service At Noon

MAYVILLE — St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 99 S. Erie St., Mayville, will hold an Ash Wednesday service at noon. The public is welcome to attend.

Park Commission Meets Today

The Jamestown Parks, Recreation and Conservation Commission will meet at 5 p.m. today in the Jamestown Municipal Building, DPW conference room A. Discussion includes the Allen Park Ice Rink lease update, a report from the Riverfront Management Council and Riverwalk, ash tree update, the city Easter egg hunt and city rec baseball. The public is welcome to attend.

Ross Grange Group Gathers

Ross Grange will meet at the Falcon’s Nest Banquet Hall on Monday, March 11, at 1 p.m. The baking contest, “Chocolate Jumbo Cookies” will be held. Members are reminded to bring items for the firemen who will visit at a future time. Refreshments will be served following the meeting.

Zoning Board Meets This Week

The Jamestown Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the City Council chambers, second floor of the Jamestown Municipal Building. Among the items on the agenda is an area variance to install 17 non-illuminated free-standing signs on the UPMC campus, 207 Foote Ave. — a variance is needed because the signs are bigger than the maximum, have a higher maximum height than the maximum allowed in the city code and exceed the minimum setback. Richard Johnson of Sinclairville is also asking the board for a variance to operate a towing business with interior and exterior auto storage at 47-53 Norwood Ave
