Youth Baseball Sign-ups In March

The James Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department has announced that sign-ups for the City Recreation Youth Baseball League will take place Tuesday, March 19, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the lobby of City Hall. The program is open to youth ages 7 to 12 years old. Children of 7 years of age will only be allowed to play in the outfield. City residents must pay a $5 registration fee per child. Non-city residents must pay a $15 registration fee per child. All children registering must supply proof of age. Children who played in the program in previous years must still sign up on March 19th and pay the registration fee. The application for financial assistance is available on the city’s website at jamestownny.net or at the Jamestown Parks and Rec Office on the fourth floor of the Municipal Building during regular business hours. The scholarship form is due back to the Parks and Rec Office by Monday, March 18.

Methodist Church Dance Today

CHERRY CREEK — The first Snowball Dance will be held today at the Cherry Creek United Methodist Church, 6813 Main St., Cherry Creek, from 5-7 p.m. Dinner will include a taco bar with all the fixings. The public is welcome to attend.

4-H Green Tie Tickets On Sale

MAYVILLE — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County’s 4-H Youth Development Program still has pre-sale tickets available for its seventh annual 4-H Green Tie Affair benefit dinner on Sunday at the Chautauqua Suites in Mayville. Tickets for this fun event are still available for $25. Tickets will also be available at the door if seats are still available. Doors open at 3 p.m. with a basket giveaway and bake sale. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. with a pie auction immediately following dinner. Mike and Dakota Peterson of Peterson Auctions have volunteered their time to serve as auctioneers at the Green Tie Affair. Chautauqua County 4-H connects 300 youth to year-round, hands-on learning opportunities that help them grow into competent, caring, contributing members of society. An additional 1,000 youth participate in Conservation Field Days Tractor and Farm Machinery Safety Course. The Green Tie Affair will directly fund 4-H programming in 2019. Tickets can be purchased from any Chautauqua County 4-H member or by calling the 4-H Office at 664-9502 ext. 214. The 4-H Office is located in the Frank Bratt Ag Center 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown.

County Address On Wednesday

MAYVILLE — Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello announced Thursday that he will deliver his State of the County address on Wednesday.

The presentation will be held during the regular meeting of the Chautauqua County Legislature, which starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Legislative Chambers of the Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St. in Mayville. “In my first year as county executive we focused on improving relationships in order to have a better understanding of the needs of our county’s businesses, organizations and residents,” Borrello said. “We accomplished that through enhanced communication and direct engagement. This year we are taking what we learned from that communication and are forging new collaborations to further our goals and initiatives. This State of the County address will focus on collaboration and coordination to achieve sustainable success.” The legislature meeting is open to the public.
