Art Gallery Talk Planned Today

LAKEWOOD — Marlin Casker is sharing black and white prints from his collection in a show titled “People and Places” at Lakewood Memorial Library, 12 W. Summit St., Lakewood. Casker will hold a gallery talk, “Why Black & White?” on today at 3:30 p.m.

Historical Society Meets March 6

BUSTI — The Busti Historical Society will hold its first regular business meeting of the year Wednesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at the Busti Museum next to the Mill. Plans will be made for projects and work sessions. A volunteer appreciation event is under consideration for early spring, and the third annual Victorian Farm to Table Dinner will be scheduled some time in late spring. Work has progressed all winter on the interior restoration of the Miller House, and a drainage problem is being corrected. The Miller House work involves walls and doors in several rooms on both floors. Further refinements were made last fall after the Apple Festival on drainage of the property behind the house and demonstration building. Thirty-three people visited the Mill on Doors Open Jamestown Day. The Busti Historical Society restored the 1839 Grist Mill in a 40-year effort.

Poland Seniors Meet Wednesday

POLAND — The Poland Town Seniors will meet Wednesday at the Kennedy Fire Hall at noon. Those who attend are asked to bring a dish to pass and a non-perishable item for the Kennedy Food Cupboard. The committee for this month is Nancy and Fred Shelters and Ben and Sharon Morey. Program for this month will be announced by Linda Kesby, program chairman.

Ripley School Board Gathers

RIPLEY — The Ripley School Board will meet on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the IRLA Library (Room 204) at the Ripley Central School. The public is welcome to attend.

Quilters Group Meets Today

ELLINGTON — The Ellington Quilters and Crafters will meet today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ellington Farman Library. All adults are invited to come work on their project or just to visit. The group normally meets the first and third Mondays monthly. The library is located in the former Lock, Stock and Barrel on the Town Square in Ellington, 760 Thorton Road. Fenton To Host Workshop

The Fenton History Center is offering a DNA workshop on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hall House Research Library, 73 Forest Ave., Jamestown. Andrew Kolstee will present a program on using DNA to solve family mysteries, locate new family members and expand a family’s story. The cost is $20 for non-members and $10 for members of the Fenton History Center. To register, call 664-6256.

Fire Dept. BBQ Planned Sunday

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Fire Department will hold a chicken barbecue Sunday at the Fire Hall dining room beginning at noon. There will be a bake sale also by the Sinclairville 76ers meals on wheels program. All are welcome to attend.
