Senior Council To Meet Thursday

United Senior Council members and guests will meet Thursday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Lakewood American Legion on Chautauqua Avenue, Lakewood. The Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers will serve as hosts. Refreshments will be provided. Speakers from the Salvation Army will talk about the programs they offer the community. All senior citizens are welcomed to attend. Grant Secured To Help Community

U.S. Rep. Tom Reed announced that a $61,703 grant has been secured to provide the Cattaraugus Community Action Inc. with funding to assist homeless people. “Cattaraugus Community Action is an agency that continuously supports and lifts up the people who need it most — those who are homeless and survivors of domestic abuse,” Reed said. “We are proud to stand with them in this effort and support their ongoing success in this arena.” Cattaraugus Community Action, Inc., is a private, not-for-profit organization incorporated in New York State in June of 1965. Cattaraugus Community Action, Inc. partners with the community to provide strengths-based opportunities for vulnerable people to achieve economic, physical, and emotional security.

Scout Spaghetti Dinner Saturday

FLUVANNA — Boy Scout Troop 169 will host a spaghetti dinner by Joe Conti from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fluvanna Fire Department. The meal costs $8 for adults and $5 for children under age 5. Proceeds benefit Fluvanna Boy Scout Troop 169.

Towns Announce Election Positions

The Town of Carroll Republican and Democratic Town Committees announce the following positions will be up for election in November: town supervisor, town clerk, two town board positions, two town justices and highway superintendent. All positions except highway superintendent and one justice position currently have incumbents who are planning on running for re-election. The highway and justice positions are open due to recent resignations. Registered Republicans who wish to run or who would like more information, please call or text Betsy Dahlgren at 450-1725. Club Hours For Break Announced

The Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club has announced hours for the school winter break. The club will be open for youth ages 5-18 from Monday through Friday of next week. The xlub hours for youth are noon-4:45 p.m. There will be free swim each day from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Youth will need to bring a bathing suit and towel in order to swim. Lunch is served each day at noon, a snack will be served at 2:45 p.m. and all program areas are open. Youth members can attend at no charge; non-members are $1/day which goes toward the $20/year membership fee. The club will not be open at night except for Thursday, Feb. 21, for Family Night. The gym, game room, computer room and pool will be open.
