YMCA To Host Babysitting Clinic

The Jamestown YMCA will hold its next babysitting clinic for boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The clinic will instruct participants about the responsibilities involved in caring for younger children including child development, safety, emergency response and more. The clinic is taught by experienced instructors who have knowledge in child development, health and overall care of children. Participants should bring a bag lunch. Space is limited. Registrations cannot be taken over the phone but can be made at the YMCA Welcome Center. For more information, visit jamestownymca.org.

Story Time To Return To Library

FLUVANNA — Story time will return to the Fluvanna Free Library starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The theme of the first week is “Winter” and will include stories and games. Story time is open to toddlers and preschool-age children along with an adult. Space is limited. The Fluvanna Free Library is located on 3532 Fluvanna Ave. Ext., Fluvanna. Animal Health Topic Of Event

Animal exhibitors at local County Fairs, as well as the New York State Fair, are invited to come learn about New York state animal health and identification requirements for the upcoming year. The event will take place Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Frank Bratt Ag Center located at 3542 Turner Road in Jamestown. Dr. Shannon Carpenter, the New York state veterinarian who is assigned to our local region, will be speaking on identification and health requirements for common species and the potential for required radio frequency identification tags for cattle and swine. Anyone who exhibits animals at a New York County or State Fair is encouraged to attend the meeting. Pre-registration is not required. Call the Ag Center with questions at 664-9502 ext. 214.

SW School Board To Meet Tuesday

The Southwestern Central School Board will hold a work session meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Board of Education Room. School business will be discussed at the meeting, which is open to the public.

Church To Host Blood Drive

PANAMA — Panama Baptist Curch, 21 North St., Panama, will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday. Individuals are eligible to give blood if it has been 56 days since their last donation; they are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo or body piercing in the past 12 months; and are in good general health. Donors must have a valid photo ID. Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good solid meal and drink at least 18 ounces of water.

Host Craft Time

KENNEDY — Community Craft Time at Kennedy First United Methodist Church will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. to noon upstairs in the adult room. Those attending can work on a project or visit with others. Craft time is open to all adults. For more information, call the church office at 267-2645. The church is located at the corner of Church and Second streets, Kennedy, and is handicapped-accessible through the lower side door.
