Mayville Seniors Officers Named

Mayville Senior Citizens met for their first meeting of 2019 on Jan. 3. The new officers took their positions, Janet Loomis, president; Darlene Barney, vice-president; Bonnie Johnson, secretary; and Edna Brown, treasurer. Loomis called the meeting to order and conducted normal business. Dianne Goodrich read a meaningful poem then the lord’s prayer. Loomis followed with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Good Will chairman Mary Carlson listed the 15 members celebrating birthdays in January as well as the three anniversaries. Loomis thanked the kitchen committee for all their hard work. The door prizes were drawn with the following winners: Ernestine Cruzado, Fran Miller, Louise Richie and Edna Brown. Bill Thornstrom, program chairman, introduced Robert Henry of Mayville who entertained the group with folk and country songs. The next meeting is Thursday. Pat Cook will be singing country music tunes.

Spaghetti Dinner This Saturday

The Chautauqua County 4-H Beef Project is having its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday from 4-7 p.m. at the Fluvanna Firehall, Fluvanna Avenue Ext., Jamestown. The spaghetti dinner is homemade by Joe Conti and includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, drink and dessert. Presale tickets are $8 and can be obtained from any 4-H Beef Project participant. Tickets will be available at the door for $9. Takeout dinners will also be available.

Reg Lenna To Show Movies

The Reg Lenna Center for The Arts will show the cyber espionage thriller “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and the fantasy feature “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” Saturday, Jan. 26, at 4 p.m. Admission is $5 to each screening. Upcoming Movies at The Reg include the heist thriller “Widows” showing Jan. 23 at 7 p.m., Mark Wahlberg and Rose McGowan in the foster family comedy, “Instant Family,” Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. and Melissa McCarthy in the biographical comedy “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” on Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.to 6 p.m. at the ticket counter within 3rd on 3rd Gallery (108 E. Third St.), over the phone (484-7070) or online at reglenna.com. Tickets also available at the Reg box office one hour prior to showtimes.

YMCA To Host Day Of Activities

The Jamestown YMCA will provide full day of activities for children between the ages of 5 and 12 for the upcoming school holiday Monday, Jan. 21. Age-appropriate activities are planned for Martin Luther King Day starting at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m. including a visit from The Home Depot for some wood working crafts, swimming, gym games, table top games and other activities. Program fees for full days of care at the YMCA are $40 per child for YMCA members and $54 for potential members. The agency accepts Social Services Department child care assistance; contact case workers prior to registration. Children will need to bring a swim suit and towel, gym shoes, beverage, lunch, morning and afternoon snack. Registration forms and additional program information is available at the Jamestown YMCA Welcome Center. Register at least three business days in advance.
