Area TEA Party Patriots To Meet
LAKEWOOD — The Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakewood American Legion. Those who won in the 2018 midterm election, or their representatives, will be present at the general meeting to give an update on future plans. “American Trinity,” a Prager video, will be shown. New York state’s push by Democrats for a single-payer healthcare system will be highlighted. TEA Party officials said many rural counties were ignored and overwhelmed by the few metropolitan areas during the 2018 race for governor. The Maine Model used to address such issues will be discussed.
Basketball League Registration Set
The registration deadline for the YMCA Tom Buttafaro Youth Basketball League has been extended through Friday, Nov. 30. The league is open to boys and girls in first through eighth grades. The league focuses on fun, teamwork, sportsmanship and individual player growth. Players from outside schools must attend the same school. Divisions will be divided as follows: first and second grades are co-ed; third through fifth grade girls; sixth through eighth grade girls, third and fourth grade boys, fifth and sixth grade boys and seventh and eighth grade boys. Fresh Start Hosts Hockey Games
A Fresh Start will host the third annual Alex Foulk Memorial Hockey Games at the Northwest Arena on Saturday from 2-5 p.m. The annual hockey event is dedicated to the memory of Alex Foulk to commemorate his life and raise awareness about substance abuse and includes two memorial hockey games, a 50/50 raffle and basket giveaway. The event is free and open to the public. Hockey players interested in participating directly in the hockey games can visit www.afreshstartny.org/events to register their name and pay a registration fee.
Mayville Seniors Hear Speaker
Members of the Mayville Seniors met recently at the VFW. Speaker from state Wide Senior Action Council spoke on patients rights and Medicare fraud. A business meeting followed. Lunch was served by the Mayville Senior Citizens. On Thursday, Dec. 13, 11 a.m. members will gather for a Christmas party at Celoron community building. Please bring a dish to pass. Opioid Response Training Dec. 11
A free opioid overdose response training will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Chautauqua Alcohol And Substance Abuse Council offices, 501 W. Third St., Suites 3 and 4, Sprinchorn Building. City Mission Sets Open House
The UCAN City Mission, 7 W. First St., Jamestown, is hosting an open house Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If unable to attend the open house, please consider donating by mail or visiting the mission’s website at ucancitymission.org. The mission provides a safe place to live, life skills training, health care and hygiene and local church connection for men.
