Menu Set For Apple Festival

BUSTI — At their September meeting, the Busti Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary put the final plans to their menu for the Apple Festival on Sunday. They will be serving out of the Jeanette Northrop Building at the fire hall in the parking lot. They will be serving Italian sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, chili dogs, chili, nachos, walking tacos, strawberry shortcake, coffee, Gatorade and pop. Set up is Saturday at 10 a.m. All members are encouraged to volunteer to help.

Yard Waste Site Open Wednesday

The final Wednesday that the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Yard Waste Site will be open in 2018 is from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday. Saturday hours continue through Nov. 10. The site is located at the dead end of Monroe Street, off Eighth Street in Jamestown. A Yard Waste Site sticker must be affixed to the car window for access to the site. One sticker is available free-of-charge per Solid Waste residential account at BPU Customer Service, 92 Steele St.

Cold-Weather Items Available

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, is now stocked with cold-weather items in men’s, ladies and children’s clothing as well as scarves, boots, winter coats, jackets, hats, gloves and purses. The shop also has maternity wear as well as plus-size ladies clothing. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays or during regular business hours. Those with large donations are asked to call ahead at 664-1887. Off-street parking available in the church lot off of East Fifth street. The all-volunteer staff includes many from RSVP. All proceeds are used locally.

Fall Cleanup To Begin In October

Lake View Cemetery in Jamestown will begin its fall cleanup the first week in October. Please remove all items from grave sites by Oct. 1. The cemetery will be using a new type of leaf blower this fall which is very powerful, therefore all items must be removed. The only exceptions will be concrete/stone urns and any mums planted in the ground. Seasonal or holiday decorations may be placed on grave sites after Thanksgiving. Craft Time To Be Held Wednesday

KENNEDY — Community craft time will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Kennedy First United Methodist Church. Those attending should bring their hand-crafted project to work on. The program is open to all adults and meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from September through June. There is no registration or fee. For more information, call the church office at 267-2645 and leave a message if no one is in the office. The church is located at the corner of Church and Second streets, Kennedy, and is handicapped-accessible.

Rose Ensemble Plays Oct. 2

The Rose Ensemble, based out of St. Paul, Minnesota, will be performing a concert at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. Rose Ensemble are an internationally touring and award winning musical group. The concert is free to attend, though an offering will be received.
