Retired State Workers To Meet

NORTH WARREN — The monthly meeting of the Barton-Schuler Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Variety Buffet Restaurant in the Commons Plaza in North Warren, Pa. Child Disability Group To Meet

MAYVILLE — The county Local Early Intervention Coordinating Council will meet at noon Thursday, Sept. 13, on the second floor of the Hall R. Clothier Building, 7 N. Erie St., Mayville. The council is made up of professionals and parents that are involved in the Early Intervention Program in Chautauqua County. The Early Intervention Program is a statewide program to help families meet the needs of infants and toddlers up to the age of three with developmental disabilities. Services provided by the Early Intervention Program may include; occupational therapy, physical therapy, special instruction, speech therapy and vision services. History Talk Set For Thursday

FREDONIA — As part of the Chautauqua County History series, John Sipos, Cassadaga village historian, will present a history of Cassadaga with photographs at the Fredonia Opera House on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. The ongoing historical series features various historians from the county, and the admission is free. The series was created for people to learn more about where they live. Sipos has been the village historian for 14 years and has gathered a number of photographs and stories which he is willing to share. The historical talk of Cassadaga will begin with the first settlers in 1809 to the present. All are welcome.

Dementia Care Class To Be Held

SINCLAIRVILLE — Chautauqua Opportunities Alzheimer’s Services is having a Savvy Caregiver Program starting Thursday at the Sinclairville Free Library, 15 S. Main St., Sinclairville. Classes are free training designed for those involved in caring for family members or friends with dementia. Caregivers will gain skills to assess the abilities of the person with dementia; a better understanding of memory loss and dementia and a sense of how to set and alter goals of caregiving. Classes are held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13, 20 and 27 and Oct. 4. To register, call 366-3335, ext. 1236 or 661-9430, ext. 1236 during regular business hours.

Railroaders

To Meet Friday

The Independent Railroaders will meet Friday, in Conduit Ministries, 120 Delaware Ave., Jamestown, corner of Delaware and Newland avenues. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting at 7 p.m. This month’s program will be a presentation of 1970s-1990s Amtrak and commuter trains in eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Members are also asked to share their railfan and model railroad experiences of this past summer. For more information contact Timothy Anderson at 487-0730. New members are welcome.
