RTPI To Host Tour Tuesday

On Tuesday at 3 p.m., The Roger Tory Peterson Institute will offer its visitors a docent-led tour with the regular cost of admission. Admission prices are $12 for Adults, $10 for seniors/military, and $8 for children/students. The current exhibition is the Extinct Birds Project, featuring works by artist Alberto Rey. The project includes the original paintings on view, along with a publication and website that investigate the lives and extinction of eighteen bird species and the ornithologists who collected each of the featured specimens. Also on view in some of RTPI’s galleries are Roger Tory Peterson originals, artifacts and memorabilia highlighting Peterson’s life and work. Breast Cancer Group To Meet

The Breast Cancer Support Group of Jamestown will meet Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Alfies Restaurant on Fairmount Avenue, West Ellicott. Dinner is at 6 p.m. with the speaker, Megan Barone from UPMC Chautauqua to follow at 7 p.m. Barone will speak on the upcoming event Links Pink Walk at the Northwest Ice Arena on Oct. 6. Pink light bulbs are now available at Farm Fresh Foods on West Third Street, the Ashville General Store, the Dutch Village in Clymer, from Jeff Bloomquist in Jamestown and the UPMC Chautauqua Womens Imaging Center. The group will have a booth set up Sept. 30 at the Busti Apple Festival. Pink light bulbs cost $3. Anyone needing information on breast cancer are welcome to attend support group meetings. UMC To Host Craft Time Event

KENNEDY — Resuming Wednesday, Sept. 12, the Community Craft Time at Kennedy First United Methodist Church will meet from 10 a.m. to noon the second and fourth Wednesdays each month. Those attending should bring hand-crafted projects to work on and get to know their neighbors. The program is open to all adults. The group meets from September through June. There is no registration or fee. For more information, call the church office at 267-2645 and leave a message. The church is located at the corner of Church and Second streets, Kennedy, and is handicapped-accessible.

Suicide Alert Training Set

The Mental Health Association will hold SafeTALK training from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 13 at the Mental Health Association offices, 31 Water St., Jamestown, in the Gateway Center Building. The goal of SafeTALK is to prepare anyone over the age of 15 to become a suicide alert helper. After training, participants should be able to recognize suicidal symptoms and take action by connecting people to intervention resources. The training is open to anyone over the age of 15, but those ages 18 and under must be with a parent or guardian. To register, call Victoria Patti at 753-4519 or email Pattiv@co.chautauqua.ny.us.

Grape Blessing To Be Held

WESTFIELD — The Grape Discovery Center, 8305 Main Road, Westfield, will host a Blessing of the Grapes at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, on the Steve Baran Memorial Patio. Following the service there will be a cake featuring a Concord grape filling and coffee and tea in celebration of 14 years of the Concord Grape Belt Heritage Association Inc.
