CWC Plans Lake Event Thursday

LAKEWOOD — The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will host a “Conservation Conversation on Chautauqua Lake and Watershed Management” from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Stedman Corners Coffee Roasters, 169 W. Fairmont Ave., Lakewood. John Jablonski III, conservancy executive director, will discuss Chautauqua Lake’s plant, algae and sedimentation problems and share what the conservancy is doing to address those problems through programs like Starve the Algae, Save the Lake. The public will be encouraged to participate in the discussion on watershed management and to ask questions about the lake and what they can do to improve its health. There is no charge for admission, and Stedman Corners will provide free coffee to those attending.

Cherry Creek Street Closed

CHERRY CREEK — Depot Street, in the town of Cherry Creek, between Southside and Railroad avenues, will be closed to traffic due to a bridge replacement beginning Monday. A detour will be posted. This closure shall remain in effect until said detour signs are removed.

Fluvanna Historic Society To Meet

FLUVANNA — The Fluvanna Community Historical Society will meet on Sunday at the Fluvanna Community Church. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. and program at 6 p.m. The program is being presented by the Lamonicas, who are local beekeepers from Panama. Bees are very important and this should be very informative. The meeting is open to the public.

Lakewood UMC Sets Super Sale

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood United Methodist is preparing for their annual Super Sale on Aug. 23-25 to be held in the cool of the church fellowship hall downstairs. Times are set respectively for 4-6 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. It is the church’s mission to provide the community with quality clothing for adults and children.

JIM Club To Present Sunday

KIANTONE — The Boys’ JIM Club will do a presentation Sunday during the 10 a.m. Sunday school hour at the Kiantone Congregational Church featuring those who have been studying and training to preach, recite Scripture, sing, perform magic, ventriloquism, drama and music. They will also participate in the morning worship service at 11 a.m. For more information, call 569-2210.

Blood Drive To Be Held Sunday

LAKEWOOD — The American Red Cross will host a blood drive Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chautauqua Mall, 318 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood. To make an appointment, download the Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 800-RED CROSS. There will also be an on-site registration station at the mall entrance near Sears, facing Mall Boulevard, for walk-ins.

JCC Board To Meet Tuesday

The next meeting of the Jamestown Community College Board of Trustees will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the boardroom on the Jamestown Campus with videoconferencing to the boardrooms on the Cattaraugus County Campus in Olean and the JCC North County Training Center in Dunkirk.
