Auxiliary To Sell Pies At Art Show

WESTFIELD — The Westfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will have its pie tent at the annual Westfield Arts and Crafts Show in Moore Park on July 27-28. An assortment of pies will be available from 9 a.m. until sold out. All proceeds will be used to further ongoing projects at Westfield Memorial Hospital. Auxiliary officials are asking for bakers to donate pies. All pies are acceptable except those that require refrigeration such as cream or custard pies. Monetary donations are also accepted. The pie sale is one of the auxiliary’s biggest fundraisers of the year. For more information, call Jean McCausland at 326-3527 or 581-1639.

Yard Sale To Be Held At Shelter

WESTFIELD — The Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue will hold its sixth annual Doggone Good Yard Sale on Friday and Saturday at the shelter. Good saleable donations (no mattresses, clothing, electronics or TVs) are now being accepted during open hours. The shelter is located at 7540 N. Gale St., Westfield, and is open from 1-3 p.m. Monday through Saturday or by appointment by calling 326-7297.

Town Board To Meet On Monday

FALCONER — A special meeting will be held by the Ellicott Town Board Monday at noon. The renewal of a bond anticipation note to pay for the roof of the Ellicott Highway Department Garage will be discussed. Money was first borrowed in 2016, and the board is expected to pay amounts on the bond every year for five years.

Concert To Be Held Wednesday

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library announces that folk singer Nan Hoffman will present a concert Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in celebration of the library’s summer reading program: Libraries Rock. “Sing a Story — Read a Song” is free to the public and is sponsored by NYSCOPBA at Lakeview and the Ross Grange. Children and teens participating in the library’s summer reading program are “library rock stars” reading to accumulate minutes that represent how famous they are. Prizes will be awarded to the top readers. Young people entering grades seventh to 12th meet at the library on Wednesdays from 1-5 p.m. Those entering grades K through sixth meet on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Information about library services and programs is available at sinclairvillelibrary.org.

VFW Announces Annual Awards

BEMUS POINT — The Bemus Point VFW Post 557 Auxiliary for the past several years has presented awards to the top three Bemus Point fifth-grade students excelling in social studies. Students receiving the awards this year are Evan Steffan, Brennan Haglund and Ryan Lockwood. They each received $25 and an American flag, along with congratulations for a job well done. The Pre-K students were awarded certificates and an American flag for learning and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, along with congratulations. The awards were presented by President Martha Wirson and Secretary Karen Cornell.

Local Receives College Degree

Holly McIntyre of Frewsburg has received her Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics degree from Western Governors University (WGU). The online, nonprofit university held its commencement ceremonies earlier this year to celebrate the recent graduation of more than 15,000 students.
