Class Of 1963 To Hold Reunion

The Chautauqua Central School Class of 1963 will hold its 55th reunion Friday, July 20, and Saturday, July 21. On Friday at 6 p.m. there will be an Amish dinner at 348 Weeks Road in Panama. The cost is $16. On Saturday at noon there will be a pot luck picnic. The location will be announced closer to the event. Any one in the Class of 1962 or 1964 who is interested in attending, please call Mary Jane Morton Miller at 789-2071 as soon as possible.

Quilt Guild To Meet Wednesday

The Chautauqua Region Quilt Guild will meet at the Busti Fire Hall on Wednesday, July 11, at 6:45 p.m. The program will be Christmas in July and the annual Ice Cream Social will be held. Donations will be accepted for the Baby Cafe. Guests are welcome to attend.

Band Concert Planned At Park

ELLINGTON — The first Ellington Town Park band concert will be held from 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday in the Ellington Town Park. “Day Old Soup” with Warren Sischo will perform. Those attending should bring their lawn chairs. Refreshments will be available. In case of rain, the band concert will be held in the Ellington fire hall. Concerts are sponsored by the Ellington Recreation Committee.

Outdoor Club To Hike On Sunday

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike 5 miles in Clear Creek State Park. Participants should bring water and meet at Musante Street in Warren, Pa., at 1 p.m. For more information call Greg Burkett at 814-723-4989.

Author’s Talk At Library July 12

FREWSBURG — The Carroll Historical Society, with the help of Frewsburg’s Myers Memorial Library, will host an author’s talk on Thursday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. Jeff Crawford, a 1963 graduate of Frewsburg Central School, will share writings from his book “Bat Tongs and other Humorous Reflections on Pastoral Ministry.” Crawford is working on a second book which will be a prequel to “Bat Tongs,” covering the first 30 years of his life including a section titled “Life Around The Burg.” In more than 20 reflections he describes his experiences growing up in and around Frewsburg. He will share some readings from this writing-in-process. A number of familiar people and places will be featured. Crawford will explain how he goes about writing and entertain questions. The Carroll Historical society is located at 5 West Main St., Frewsburg, behind the Carroll Town Hall.

Seniors Meet For Monthly Lunch

GERRY — The Rodeo City Senior Citizens of Gerry met at the United Methodist Church for their monthly luncheon and program. From the Chautauqua County Landfill, speaker T.J. Pierce spoke to the group on recyclables. Pierce spoke that there have been changes in recent years, such as the types of items accepted. He added that no electronics, no rechargeable batteries or tires are accepted, unless there is a special day. Recycling is a thing of the future, and certain items are reusable. For the next gathering on Friday, July 13, at noon, the annual summer picnic will be held inside the Gerry United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Hot dogs will be provided, and all those attending are asked to bring a dish of food for the picnic
