Class Raising Funds For MHA

Jefferson Middle School fifth graders in Gina Hess’ classroom are celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month by raising money for the Mental Health Association at The Gateway Center. This is the second year for the activity. Students are selling slime and squishies to raise money. In addition, students are encouraging Jefferson staff and students to wear green on Fridays and will hold a Walk-a-Thon at Strider Field at the end of the month. Students also created posters promoting Mental Health Awareness, as well as, provided wellness tips during the morning announcements. Students will be heading through local neighborhoods asking for pledges for the Walk-a-Thon. Those who would like to donate directly, please contact Gina Hess at Jefferson Middle School at 483-4411.

Celoron Board

To Meet Tuesday

CELORON — The Celoron Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the community center, 47 Dunham Ave., Celoron, to consider the application of herbicides in Chautauqua Lake. The meeting is open to the public.

Falconer Yard Sale Planned

FALCONER — The Annual Village of Falconer Yard Sale Days sponsored by the Falconer Rotary Club will be held Friday, June 1, and Saturday, June 2. Participants may register at the Falconer Vac Shack at 15 W. Main St. in Falconer. Participation includes a free yard sale sign and inclusion on a participating yard sale location map. Free maps will be available to all shoppers after 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at the following locations: Falconer Vac Shack, Village Community Building & Falconer Public Library. City Arbor Day Event Planned

The City of Jamestown Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department will lead the community Arbor Day celebration at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The planting of a Red Oak Tree will take place in Roseland Park to proclaim Jamestown a Tree City USA Community by the Arbor Day Foundation. The planting site will be off of the Fluvanna Avenue entrance into Roseland Park.

Soil Board To Meet Wednesday

The Chautauqua County Soil and Water Conservation District will meet on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the Northcrest Business Park, 220 Fluvanna Ave. Suite 600 in Jamestown. The meeting is open to the public.

Salamanca

Registration Set

Universal Pre-K and Kindergarten registration night for the Salamanca City Central School District will take place Tuesday, June 5, from 5-7 p.m. at Prospect Elementary School. Those wishing to register kids for the 2018-19 school year are asked to bring proof of residency and a birth certificate. Registration packets will be available. Anyone with questions is asked to call the school at 945-5170.

Outdoor Club

To Ride Sunday

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride bikes from Rouseville to Franklin. Participants will meet at Betts Field at 1:30 p.m. For more information call Earl Ross at 814-726-3920.
