Learn To Swim Classes Open
The Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown is currently registering participants for upcoming adult learn to swim classes. The next session of Monday Adult Learn-To-Swim Classes begins April 9 and ends on June 4. All classes meet on Mondays and there are no classes on May 28 (Memorial Day). The non-swimmer/beginner class is at 10 a.m. and the advanced beginner class is at 10:45 a.m. The cost is $30 for members and $60 for non-members for each program. Adult memberships may be purchased for one year $100 or six months for $60. Call 664-2902 with any questions.
Cemetery Items To Be Removed
The Pine Hill Cemetery in Falconer announced that all winter decorations need to be removed from grave sites prior to Monday, April 16. Any remaining items will be discarded.
Infinity To Host April Day Camp
The Infinity Center will host a Spring Into Music and Arts day camp from Tuesday, April 3, through Friday, April 6. Students will experience a variety of art, music, film, and theater activities. Make cool art, script and film a movie, join a band, explore instruments, all in four, fun-filled days. Class is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Students ages 6-12 are welcome. Historian To Be Guest Speaker
ELLERY — Vince Martonis, Hanover town historian, will be the guest speaker at the Ellery Senior Citizens luncheon meeting on Friday, April 13, at noon at St. Timothy’s Church, near Chautauqua Brick, in Ellery. Attendees may come just for the talk at1 p.m. if they wish. The public is welcome. Martonis’ curiosities will include the Great Black Walnut Tree of Silver Creek and the famous Hanover elm, which were the two trees largest east of the Rockies. The walnut was hollowed out and made into a room. A slice of the elm has 33 oil paintings on it done by a Seneca artist. He has an 1812 detailed letter written by the owner of the Red Bird Tavern in Ellery which tells about early residents, Indians, food prices and the War of 1812. It is one of a few such letters that exist. Martonis will also discuss the Amos Sottle Horse Skull Fiddle.
Lenten Lunch Set For Today
Levant Wesleyan Church will host the Lenten lunch at noon Wednesday. The public is welcome to attend.
Boys, Girls Club Hours Announced
The Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys and Girls Club of Jamestown announced hours for the spring break. The club will be open for youth ages 5-18 Friday through Friday, April 6. The club hours for youth are noon-5 p.m. There will be free swim each day from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Youth will need to bring a bathing suit and towel in order to swim. Lunch/Snack will be served each day and all program areas are open. The Club will be closed this Saturday and Saturday, April 7.
Egg Hunt Set For Saturday
The East Side Fellowship will host its 57th annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday at 10 a.m. The event will take place at the College Park on Curtis Street. The age groups are 1-4, 5-7 and 8-12 year-olds.
