Bible School To Begin July 31
The Westside Community Vacation Bible School will be held on Monday through Friday evenings, July 31 to Aug. 4, from 6-8:15 p.m. at the Jamestown Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, located on the corner of West Third Street and Lakin Avenue. All children entering UPK through sixth grade are invited to attend. The theme this year is Operation Arctic. There will be Bible stories, games, crafts, refreshments and more. Farman Library Board To Meet
ELLINGTON — The Ellington Farman Library Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Monday. There is time designated for the public to speak at the beginning of each meeting. The library is located at 760 Thornton Road in Ellington and is handicapped-accessible.
Area Churches To Host Bible School
Area Lutheran churches will host vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to noon July 31 through Aug. 4 for children in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. Children must be potty-trained. The theme is “A Mighty Fortress.” Vacation Bible school will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran, 825 Forest Ave., Jamestown. To register, call Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 488-4235 or First Lutheran Church at 664-4601 or pick up a form on the tables in the sanctuary or parlors. The Donation Board is up in the parlors for those who can donate. Volunteers are also needed. For more information, call Darcy at 397-7612.
Bible School To Begin In Stockton
STOCKTON — Stockton Community Church, 4554 West Railroad Ave., will host vacation Bible school for children ages 4 through 12 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. July 31 through Aug. 4. The theme is “Passport to Peru” from Group Publishing. The children will learn and experience Peruvian culture through songs, Bible lessons, games and snacks. Parents can pre-register their children by calling the church office at 595-3176. Children must be accompanied by a parent on Monday at 8:30 a.m. to register and sign in.
MTC To Discuss Alzheimer’s
Alzheimer’s, a chronic neurodegenerative disease, will be the subject at the Mayville Tuesday Club beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 1, in the Mayville Library on South Erie Street. President Dianne Goodrich reminds members that their dues is payable and the 2017-18 program booklets also will be available prior to the meeting. The group will still be collecting contributions toward the Hospital Emergency Department’s renovation. Anyone who would like to join or has any questions should call Dianne at 753-2414.
Sherman Day Set For Aug. 4-5
The Sherman Day Committee presents Sherman Day 2017, Aug. 4-5. Events begin with an alumni dinner and meeting at 6 p.m. Friday in the Sherman Central School cafeteria. Saturday’s events include a 5k run/walk at 8 a.m.; a grande parade at 10 a.m.; food and craft vendors, a car show, antique tractor show and children’s games from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and a firemen’s chicken barbecue beginning at noon.
