YWCA To Host Fourth Fundraiser

The YWCA of Jamestown will be holding their fourth annual fundraiser: Bag The Winter Blues Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Jamestown Community College’s Student Union. Dinner will be catered by Elegant Edibles. Tickets are now on sale for $25, which includes dinner and five raffle tickets. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased at the event. New and gently used purses will be featured as well as grand prizes with new Kate Spade, COACH, Vera Bradley and more. WCA To Host A Free Info Seminar

The Bariatric Center team of UPMC Chautauqua WCA will host a free, informative, seminar today at 10 a.m. to answer questions about weight loss surgery options at the hospital and introduce residents to bariatric surgeon, Dr. Galo Grijalva. The free seminar will be held in the UPMC Chautauqua WCA Auditorium, 207 Foote Ave. For more information, call 664-8614.

Book Discussion On Wednesday

Sam Genco, Lake View Cemetery superintendent, will discuss with the Bemus Point Historical Society the life of Alonzo Sampson as depicted in his book Three Times Around the World – The Life and Adventures of Alonzo D. Sampson. Genco’s presentation will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Sampson was a Cattaraugus County man in the 1800s who spent his life having many adventures including whaling and gold mining. The Bemus Point Historical Society meets at the society’s home on Alburtus Avenue next door to the Bemus Point Fire Hall on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.  The meetings are open to the public and all are welcome.

County IDA Meet On Thursday

The County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency Audit Committee will meet in the conference room Thursday at 10 a.m. at the County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency, 201 W. Third Street, Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Vets Finding Vets Doc To Be Shown

The Fenton History Center’s Vets Finding Vets program will present a documentary film about the rise in veteran suicide from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Scharmann Theater at Jamestown Community College. The film, “Project 22”, was produced by Theo Collins, a veteran and Jamestown native. While the film is about the current veteran suicide epidemic, it is intended to be an inspirational and uplifting film that starts on the West Coast with a couple of motorcycle riders and through the course of the ride across the country, the message becomes more hopeful through the stories of veterans who found their own individual inspirations.

Ripley Board To Meet Wednesday

A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Ripley Central School District will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Research Library (Room 204) of the Ripley Central School for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board.
