Support Group To Meet Monday

Busti Group To Meet Tonight
BUSTI – The next meeting of the Busti Advisory Group tonight at 7 will feature Assemblyman Andy Goodell, R-Jamestown, and Vince Horrigan, Chautauqua County Executive. These government leaders will discuss the challenges the village of Lakewood and town of Busti face in terms of meeting space needs for the court, and village and town offices. In addition, the community faces a wide array of other financial and leadership issues including attracting businesses, zoning, and keeping taxes in check, while the group gathers information on viable options to meet the space challenges, according to a press release from the Busti Advisory Group. Bible School Begins Aug. 4
RANDOLPH – The Randolph Community Vacation Bible School will be held at East Randolph United Methodist Church Aug. 4-8 from 8:45-11:45 a.m. The theme this year is SonRock Kids’ Camp. Registration will begin Monday, Aug. 4, at 8:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall at ERUMC. Thule Lodge To Hold Dinner Friday
BEMUS POINT – The Thule Lodge, located at 4123 Pancake Hill Road, will hold a dinner this Friday at the lodge from 5-7 p.m. The first choice will be a fish dinner, prepared in one of three ways. The second choice will be the triple Swedish plate, which includes korv, Swedish meatballs and koldolmars. To go with the triple meal, rotmos will be served as well. All dinners are open to everyone and everyone is welcome. Thule Lodge, now in its 107th year in the area, serves to preserve the Swedish heritage through events and activities. Voices Canceled Due To Weather
Monday’s installment of Chautauqua Lake Voices was canceled due to unfavorable weather conditions. Voices will feature the Phil Collins and Genesis theme night next Monday and will eliminate two singers at the end of the show. The top five singers will perform two movie theme songs on Aug. 11 and the final three singers will perform in the finals on Monday, Aug. 18.

AARP?Smart Driver Course Set
An AARP Smart Driver class will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s Church, North Main Street at East Fourth Street, Jamestown. Pre-registration is required by calling 488-1264. Blueberry Festival Set For Saturday

Vacation Bible School Planned

Baker Benefit
Set For Sunday
A benefit for area resident Denny Baker will be held Sunday from noon-4 p.m. at the Celoron Legion, 26 Jackson Ave. in Jamestown. Baker was diagnosed with Stage IV rectal cancer in November 2012, which has metastasized to his lungs and invaded his blood stream. The benefit is being held to raise money for medical bills and chemotherapy treatments. A Chinese auction, 50/50 drawings and a spaghetti dinner will be provided, along with a cash bar. CHAUTAUQUA – The Chautauqua Music Camps will be accepting on-site registrants for the 2014 camp, according to Peter Lindblom, director. Since the mail-in registration date has passed, interested students may apply in-person on the first day, Monday, Aug. 11 at 8:30 a.m. It will take place at McKnight Hall on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution. Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development is in preparations for the seventh annual OnoFest Saturday, at the Onoville Marina, eight miles south of Exit 17 off Interstate 86 on West Perimeter Road, Steamburg. OnoFest is a one-day event that will start at noon and run to 9:30 p.m. It is a family-oriented event scheduled to have arts, crafts, food, games and contests for the young and old alike, bands throughout the day and fireworks. Today, Bob Evans restaurant’s community fundraiser program will benefit the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy. Nick Rizzo, a local chef from Mayville, returns for an all-new third season of cooking programs. Kinetix To Hold Free Program

JHS Class Of ’89 To Meet July 12
The Jamestown High School Class of 1989 will hold its 25-year reunion from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Gateway Train Station, 211 W. Second St., Jamestown. The $20 per person ticket price includes admission and food at the event. A cash bar will be available for drinks. All members of the Jamestown High School Class of 1989 are welcome to attend. MAYVILLE – William H. Travis American Legion Post 493 will have a chicken barbecue starting at noon on Friday. Pre-sale tickets are available at the post for a $10 donation and include a half-chicken, homemade potato salad, dinner roll and a brownie. CELORON – The village of Celoron will hold its Summer Concert Series in the Park from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays in Lucille Ball Memorial Park in the Desi Arnaz Bandshell.
