Snowsuits Can Make Winter More Fun

I recently saw a photo of a friend’s baby with his snowsuit. It was a two-piece set I think but he did not have on any leggings. There was a snowsuit that was passed down through the family that I remember. It was light green and very silky. You had to be careful when you carried the baby that they did not slip out of your grasp. There are pictures of my niece and nephews in that suit as well as my own two children. There are also pictures of several other babies in it. While I know that babies outgrow things quickly, that suit was really made to last. My son had it on when he ...

You Can’t Fix S—–

In my wife Sally’s long time job, a lot’s been taught and learned by children, mainly under the age of four. There are crafts to do, lessons in sharing toys and supplies, and restroom procedures (i.e. flush, wash, hang towel). They’re taught how to pick up after themselves. There are lessons in patience, not leaving the lunch, or snack, table until everyone is finished, and these are just a small fraction of the things taught and hoping to instill in these children at a very early stage of their lives. One other major thing that’s stressed a lot with these children, is respect ...

Shopping With Your Husband Is A Mixed Bag

The best way I can describe my husband is that he’s like an old hippie. Not that he is really old and he was never a true hippie as we’d imagine one to be. He was, after all, a very good student his whole life, was an excellent running back in high school and was actually accepted into a pre-med program in college, although he never became a doctor. So, he doesn’t really qualify as a hippie, but he’s just older enough than I am to have picked up some hippie qualities in his steadfast travels through the 1960s. For example, he’s an excellent guitar player. He’s extremely ...

Trump: The Good, Bad And Ugly

President Donald Trump “saved the United States,” says former Trump adviser Steve Bannon. He’s one of the “smartest, most clever, and successful” presidents, says Fox’s Jeanine Pirro. No, he’s “dumb and racist,” says comedian Seth Meyers, and guilty of “rampant corruption,” say commentators on MSNBC. The man divides opinion like no one else in America. My latest video looks at the “good, bad and ugly” of Trump. The good is wonderful. Unemployment is down, and the stock market is up. Trump deserves credit for that. By criticizing “job-crushing ...

The Good Life: Smaller Towns Get More Tourists

A part of what most of America knows as the Florida Panhandle has a closer-to-home nickname: “The Forgotten Coast.” That is a misnomer. The area is chiefly Franklin County almost directly south of the state capital of Tallahassee. It includes four communities that, by any measure, are smallish. From west to east, they are Apalachicola, population about 2,200; St. George Island, a barrier island that is 28 miles long but less than a mile wide, with just 800 or so permanent residents; Eastpoint, 2,300; Carrabelle, 2,500. The entire county is listed at just below 12,000 in ...

The American Dream Is Back On Its Track

If you watched the State of the Union address Tuesday night, then there’s no denying President Donald Trump is delivering a broad spectrum of victories for the American people. Don’t let power-obsessed Democrats or the fake news media fool you. On the jobs front, the Trump administration has created almost 7 million to date — including 500,000 manufacturing jobs — ushering in a blue-collar boom where wages are growing faster for workers than managers, shrinking the income inequality gap. The latest blowout jobs report reflects a golden age of prosperity. “Private ...
