Question: I received a postcard informing me your office is moving to a new location. What is happening, why are you moving? Did you change jobs?

Answer: There is so much to say to that series of questions. The answer to one of the questions is yes, the offices of Senior Life Matters and Lutheran Senior Housing are moving. The move is scheduled to take place on March 12th, 13th and 14th. I stretched the time a bit, because we have to pack for the move, move the offices, and then unpack. The current location of our office is at 737 Falconer St. in Jamestown, on the corner of Aldren Avenue and Falconer Street. We are moving to 219 Gustavus Ave., which is on the other side of the Lutheran Campus on Falconer Street.

The 737 Falconer St. location is right on the corner. The 219 Gustavus Ave. location is 1/10th of a mile off of Falconer Street. You get there by turning up Gustavus Avenue, go past Margaret Street, and the 219 address is on your left. The parking for that building is directly in front of the building.

To explain the campus with a little more detail. If you stand on Falconer Street and look at the Lutheran Campus, Gustavus is on the left hand (west) side of the campus, and Aldren is the right hand (east) side of the campus. A different way is Gustavus is on the Jamestown side, and Aldren is on the Falconer side of the campus.

The new 219 Gustavus St. location will be our home for a relatively short period of time. We are very excited about this move. The reason we are moving is that our current building will be taken down shortly after we leave it. Then at that location, a larger building will be built for the Edgewood Communities. This new Community and Wellness Center will be completed and open during 2019.

This new Community and Wellness Center will house the offices of Senior Life Matters, and Lutheran Senior Housing. It will also include a fitness center, activities room great room with fireplace, find dining room, theater and outside patio venue. There will also be a cafe where people can gather and share coffee, treats and conversation anytime they like.

This Community and Wellness Center will enable the residents of Edgewood Communities to have a variety of additional services and spaces. It will also mean new and upgraded office space for our programs.

The move to the Gustavus address will be a little confusing, but it will be worth it. This Community and Wellness Center project has been in the works for three years and we are all excited that the plan is coming to fruition.

Our phone numbers are staying the same, so you can always call if you forget or have questions. For those that have appointments with Senior Life Matters, we will be mailing appointment card reminders with a map to help you find us.

As noted, we will have somewhat limited availability today, Tuesday and Wednesday. We will have our phones forwarded and will be able to answer questions during the move. We will have intermittent access to our email.

I think this described the upcoming move, probably more extensively that you needed it! But we want the public we serve to be well-informed.

I do want to address your last question; “Did you change jobs?” My answer to that is; NO WAY!! I have the best job ever! At least for me, it is the best job ever! As you can probably sense from my articles, I LOVE what I do. I have been working in this region for over 25 years. I have had a number of jobs during that time. I definitely think this is the best job yet. I love that working at Senior Life Matters allows me to help a variety of people in a variety of situations. As a Geriatric Care Manager, I am privileged to help in so many different situations. Each day is a new adventure.
