Let Us Honor Our Politicians: Oink, Oink, Hurrah!

Here is a prime example of swamp life in Washington.

First, Senator John McCain sits on $9 million. This is money given to him for his presidential campaign. Given to him by friends and supporters. And by people, businesses and special interests.

All of whom and which wanted to curry his favor. As a senator he has a lot of favor to give. As a president he would have had even more, of course.

He gets to keep this money. Fellow politicians have created this protection for campaign nest eggs. Sweet of them, don’t you think?

Now the senator turns the money over to his charity. The McCain Institute for International Leadership. A think tank. A lasting tribute to the good senator’s public service. This is part of his legacy.

Gollee, this looks a bit like the infamous Clinton Global Initiative. (So writes Richard Pollock for the Daily Caller.) Tell me the Clinton operation was not an influence-peddling scheme. And I will tell you eggs bounce. And that you can straighten bananas.

One of Clinton’s big donors years ago described the process. You put money in and cach-ing! Out comes something you want.

So who is stuffing money into Sen. McCain’s favorite charity? Why, it is George Soros. The uber-liberal multi-billionaire. He funds rioters and disrupters and Never Trump characters. For starters. Half the protest marches in the world would not have made it two blocks without Soros money.

He also makes big money on most every piece of legislation that comes out of Washington. Because he has his fingers in a thousand pies.

Oh, and here is a big contribution from Teneo. A for-profit company. It does a lot of advising for big companies around the world. The kind of advising that helps them in Washington, ahem, ahem. Its CEO and president are veterans in Clinton machine politics. One of them is often touted as Bill Clinton’s “bag man”.

And here is a fat contribution from the Saudis. Another from a Moroccan state-run company. One that has been accused of abusing and exploiting workers.

Gosh, here is a donation by a foundation. One that supported Obama’s questionable Iran nuclear deal. It gives money to an outfit that lobbies big time to keep the U.S. from quitting the deal.

The list goes on and on. It includes various foreign donors who are clearly out to buy influence. To buy his vote.

His vote is pretty important. His influence is as well. He sits on many powerful committees in the Senate. He often votes with the Democrats. Which might explain the Teneo support. And the Soros support. Since Soros loves the Clintons and Democrats.

People voice concerns. The senator pooh-poohs them. His spokesman assures the world the senator would never be influenced by any of the donors to his foundation. His legacy.

What a crock. What a lot of pretending. Suppose McCain was the mayor of a small town. And suppose he set up a little McCain Charity for Wayward Puppies. And suppose all the people who did business with the town contributed to his charity.

And suppose people who wanted to do business with the town kicked in. And suppose land developers who would benefit from the mayor’s decisions kicked in.

Two more “supposes”. Suppose you suggested this stunk like pigs’ swill. Do you suppose you might be right on the money?

Do I suggest John McCain is a crook? No. Do I suggest a decent person might gag? Over the amount of this influence-peddling in Washington? Over the fact that the nation’s leaders don’t even notice it? Don’t even feel a whiff of the stink?

I suppose I do suggest exactly that.
