If We Can Build Useless Wall, We Can Feed Others

To the Reader’s Forum:

According to a senior UN official the world faces the largest humanitarian crisis since the end of the second world war with more than 20 million people in four countries facing starvation. Without collective and coordinated global efforts, “people will simply starve to death” and “many more will suffer and die from disease.” An immediate injection of $4.4 Billion is needed by July to avert catastrophe.

Three of the four countries affected, Yemen, South Sudan, and Somalia are on Mr. Trump’s travel ban. Can we call ourselves a moral nation if we just ignore them?

If we can waste $25 billion on a wall across our southern border that does nothing we can surely help people from starving to death. I call on Congress to authorize a 15 foot wall instead of a 20 foot wall and direct the savings to save the lives of 20 million men, women, and children. If we can’t do that what will we do?
