Harmony Senior Citizens Set To Meet

Forty-six members of the Harmony Senior Citizens met on Jan. 2 for a variety of homemade soups and sandwiches prepared by the following members: Birdie Karlson, Karen Hurlburt, Chick Morrison, June Whipple, Cindy McIntyre, Elaine Jensen, Sally Hagg and Dee Ellis.

Other items provided by Carol Parnell, Cora Delahoy, Ellen Lord and Wendie Raynor. Desserts were provided by various members as well. The food and table decoration committee consisted of Cindy McIntyre, Mary Lou Garfield and Carol Parnell.

Beverly Smith, president, welcomed everyone and wished all a Happy New Year. Lois King, chaplain, read “What will you do with this year that is new?” She led the flag salute and offered the dinner prayer.

Birthdays were celebrated by Betty Johnson and Don Garfield, eldest member present. Anniversary was celebrated by Shirley Earls and her husband.

Names of members needing get well cards, thinking of you cards or sympathy cards to family members were given. These names will be given to Joyce Ecker, Cheer Person, who was unable to attend today’s meeting.

Dottie Enlow stated she is still working on day trips for this year. As soon as finalized, she will distribute a list of dates and destinations.

The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 6 at noon. Members are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own table service. The food committee is Mary Kenney, Churck and Dee Ellis with Bonnie Abers in charge of the birthday cake. Bingo will be played following the lunch and members are asked to bring in items to be given as bingo prizes.

The March 5 meeting scheduled at noon will consist of pizza, broccoli, cheese soup and dessert. The cost will be $5 per person. Reservations are required and can be made at the February meeting, along with the payment of the $5. Members are asked to bring their own table service, although bowls will be provided for the soup and ice cream.

New members are encouraged to attend. If the Panama School District is closed due to weather, the meeting is automatically canceled.
