Love School Surprises Cammarata Ahead Of Retirement
Love School Celebrates Cammarata_1: Adriana Cammarata stands with former coworkers and retirees who surprised her during a POP Assembly on Dec. 8 to celebrate her 30-year career at Love. Cammarata retired on Dec. 19.
Adriana Cammarata’s winter break will last just a bit longer than her students’ or colleagues’ — after 30 years of service to S.G. Love Elementary School, the beloved teacher will conclude her career on Dec. 19.
During the school’s Dec. 8 POP Assembly, Principal Michael Brown recognized Cammarata and helped usher in a special surprise.
“I know I’ve only had the opportunity to know you for about six months,” Brown told Cammarata during the assembly of students. “But Mrs. Cammarata has had such an impact here at Love and we have a special surprise.”
The celebration took a joyful turn when more than a dozen Love retirees and former colleagues walked through the doors to surprise her, including longtime former principal Renee Hartling — a complete surprise to Cammarata. Each visitor carried a gift or flowers to give to their former coworker. Some shared remembrances of their time with Cammarata.
“We thought this was a great opportunity to really take time and really appreciate all that you’ve done here at Love, all that you’ve done for our kids, and mark all the friendships you’ve made over the years here at Love,” Brown said. “You established a legacy here and you will be so missed.”
“I cannot believe all these people came!” Cammarata said during the assembly with happy tears in her eyes. “I am going to miss you all so much. I have been so lucky here at Love School to have worked with all of you. And now it’s my time to go home, be with my family, with Mr. (Phil) Cammarata. But I’m going to miss all of you so much!”
