Food Service Provides Breakfast And Lunch Meals

In just three days, the Jamestown Public School Food Service Department prepared more than 8,000 meals for distribution to families that are affected by the extended cancellation of classes in the district.

As part of the “new normal,” the district is helping students who need breakfast and lunch by providing “grab and go” meals to take home.

Lunch and breakfast for the next day can be picked up daily from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jefferson, Persell, and Washington Middle Schools as well as Jamestown High School. Parents are welcome to go to the school that is most convenient for them. If a family has difficulty picking up a meal, family members may contact their school office to make arrangements. We are thankful for members of the community who are supporting each other by carpooling for pick up.

The JPS Food Service workers are doing an outstanding job assembling thousands of cold breakfasts and lunches. As of Wednesday, they have served hundreds of meals to our community. Jeffrey Smith, JPS Director of Food Service, said, “we have had a steady stream of parents and students coming to our middle schools and high schools for lunch.”

Many JPS students rely on their schools to provide breakfast and lunch. Our district aims to ensure that our students and parents can continue to benefit from this opportunity.
