The Stickers To Headline Gran Fondo Afterparty Entertainment At Webb’s
MAYVILLE – Visitors to the inaugural Chautauqua Gran Fondo will have a chance to get “countrified” by a rising star in the music world.
The Stickers, a Pittsburgh-based country trio comprised of three brothers, will headline the Gran Fondo afterparty festivities at Webb’s Captain’s Table in Mayville with a 3:30-5 p.m. performance.
Consisting of Joe, Jim and John Wodarek, the Stickers will traverse the Pennsylvania-New York border Wednesday hot on the heels of having released their second full-length album, “Country Proud.” The Stickers penned several of the songs on the “Country Proud” LP, and worked with some of Nashville’s top songwriters to round out the collection before recording at the Music City’s Blackbird Studios and Disgraceland Studios.
According to Todd Wagner, founder of Lucky Dog Productions and a coordinator of the Chautauqua Gran Fondo afterparty, Saturday’s performance will mark the second occasion in which The Stickers have brought their talents to Chautauqua County – having previously been booked by the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency to perform in the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena.
“(The Stickers) had played a year or two ago at the arena, and I guess they were pretty well-received,” Wagner said. “They were asked back for the Gran Fondo afterparty at Webb’s and, because I’m handling the logistics, I’m perfectly fine with that because I know all those guys. They have a really unique family situation in which they all grew up playing music together, and they’re some of the most grounded, nicest guys you’ll ever meet.”
The Stickers have been slowly building a solid web of loyal country music followers through their high energy shows and catchy songs. In their home state of Pennsylvania, the band has set attendance records in Allegheny County, and regularly draws capacity crowds. Wagner said the band is currently in the midst of a five-state tour, and “Country Proud” has been charting well in Europe.
“They’re just a great representation of what mainstream modern country music should be,” he said. “They certainly have some prowess in their craft, and it should be a great show for a Saturday evening in Mayville.”
The Stickers will also be preceded during the afterparty by These Two and Me, a trio which perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and local alt-country favorites The Bogarts, who will perform from 1:30-3 p.m.
The cost to attend the Chautauqua Gran Fondo afterparty at Webb’s is $10, but those who participate in the Gran Fondo bike tour will be admitted for free.
Webb’s Captain’s Table is located at 115 W. Lake Road in Mayville. For further details on the Chautauqua Gran Fondo and its afterparty, or to register for the event, contact Venn Blakely at 753-6290 or visit chautauquagranfondo.com.
