Young Mothers’ Study Club To Hold 50th Annual Holiday Auction
WARREN, Pa. – The Young Mothers’ Study Club of Warren will hold its 50th annual auction on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Conewango Club on Market Street. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Holiday cookies will be served along with a cash bar. Door prizes, a Chinese auction and a 50/50 drawing will also be held.
All of the proceeds will be donated to organizations within Warren County that primarily benefit women and children. Previous auctions have brought in anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000. In the past, donations have been made to the Warren Public Library, Caring for Life and The Pregnancy Care Center. Every year the recipients change in an effort to spread the wealth.
The auction typically has around 150-200 items to bid on and are all donated from area businesses and members of the Young Mothers’ Study Club. Attendees can expect to see handmade household items like quilts, benches and holiday decor, as well as services like oil changes, haircuts and gift certificates to business within Warren County.
The Young Mothers’ Study Club of Warren has been a charity organization within the Warren community since 1941. To become a member a woman must have a child in grade six or younger and pay annual dues of $30. Members get together once a month to socialize and hold their business meeting.
Throughout the year the YMSC also make donations of goods to local schools and organizations. They collect nonperishable goods like diapers, wipes, blankets, socks, underwear and back pack supplies so children in need can be taken care of.
