Gorka To Play RHR Monday

John Gorka is a singer-songwriter who first got attention as the winner of the coveted “New Folk Award” at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 1984. From there, his career took off. He became one of the leading lights of what is now referred to as the “new folk movement” with its beginnings in the 1980s. He has toured with, and in support of, Nancy Griffith, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kathy Mattea, as well as having such guests as Leo Kottke and Fairport Convention on his albums.

Rolling Hills Radio will present Gorka on Monday.

Gorka is also going to play a mini-concert after the recorded part of the show for the live audience only. He will be joined by recording artist, Amilia K. Spicer for the night.

All live RHR regular season shows take place at Shawbucks, 212 W. Second St., across from Jamestown’s Ice Arena. Doors open — to all those holding or purchasing tickets — at 5:30 p.m. for the happy hour. Food and drink are available until 6:15 p.m. at which time audience members take their seats and the house lights dim. Audio and video recording begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. The bar reopens for 10 minutes at intermission and then again after the show when the audience and performers are invited to a meet and greet.

For more information about tickets, call 294-0416. Tickets are also available online at rollinghillsradio.org/tickets. Tickets for this show are $25.
